keith5885
Based on what I learned from the forums I want to use a motion detector device that will power on a radio for a minute or two every time it sees movement. It would be kinda cool if I had a remote control for it too. Are there any recommendations for products or how to secure the radio?Like the ideas I heard on a Present wrapped box to hold it but would have to be outdoor proof. Any thoughts or tips on this subject?
Santas Helper
Keith,I like the idea. I've never thought about this but it has potential if there is walking traffic and such.I'm sure some great minds here will chime in on their thoughts for this. But in the mean time, Rubbermaid tubs come to mind. keith5885
http://www.amazon.co..._pr_product_topI found this... 15.99 on amazon stays on a few minutes after.Doesn't really seem outdoor friendly and can't find an outdoor version yet.... But maybe if in a container it can last a season... Edited November 8, 2012 by keith5885
Reefrus
This device does not power on a radio but I had 4 of the sensors located around my halloween displays and one in the driveway. The volume on the base unit can be heard over a tv. They are wireless and worked very well. If you are just wanting something for motion. Chamberlain CWA2000 Wireless Motion Alert I got them off Amazon.
columbus27
If you wont to keep it simple. Make a plywood box, get one boat speaker mount it on the box (if it was me I would just get some el-cheap-o speakers from RS or partsexpress.com) then open up a radio disconnect the old speakers, solder on the new speakers, pick up one of those $10 motion detectors from Lowe's get a plug adapter, that's it. WhitePlainsNY
I've used this solution and I've never had a problem with it under a trash bag. http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/22522-fm-transmitter-vs-outdoor-speakers/#entry214495
keith5885
Yeah, that's not bad. Going to do some testing for what works for me this weekend. Thanks!
