I started out with the WHT and even after modifying the unit and adding a booster and outside antenna, I never could get the results I needed. The unit below is the way to go. I now get close to a mile with mine. Second year for mine,very pleased with it. Out of my basement ,it reaches out to about a half mile then drops off quickly. I use the little rubber antena that came with it. I'm running it the 100mw setting volume set about 10 o'clock and can reach about 2.5 blocks then fades out. On the 500mw setting was reaching about a mile.
