ace_master Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I certainly did...I placed a pretty substantial order in April, and still have not received it...April - Order placedMay - He says shipment has still not shipped because an item was not in stock at time of order.June - He says order has been shipped and he would send tracking information (never did).July - He claims order was stuck in customs and that correct paperwork was faxed for items to be released. he also says I will get a partial refund for my troubles (never did).Aug - He claims order has been lost in stansition, and that a new order would be shipped to me. That I was to wait for further tacking information. That was the last I heard from him after several attempts to get a responce... The lighting of the Christmas lights is now about 1 month away, and I am missing about 1/2 of my new stuff for this year!!There are rumors that others have had problems with him going off the radar, but I havn't found any specific posts by anyone. Has anyone else had similar issues with him?
Orville Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) I guess this is one of the main reasons I prefer to buy from Big Box or Discount Stores for my lights and anything else. If I want LOR equipment, straight from the LOR site. Then I avoid issues like this. Since, yes, I have gotten burned on internet bought options a few times myself. Not from this person, never done business with them.So I'll stick with the local stores where I can see, touch and know if the merchandise I want to buy will work for my needs, with just a couple of exceptions. Surfing4Dough Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I got great deals and service from him on several controllers in February (as he came highly recommended to me), but it seems that after that he went down the tubes--know several others that had a difficult time with him. Think he got overwhelmed and in over his head. Don't believe he is a LOR Partner any longer. http://www.lightorama.com/PartnerNearMe.html
digdeepfundraising Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 a friend of mine in the uk got screwed over by him for 2 controllers and was told the same spill as you didits postedill send you a tracking number (but never did)stuck in customsand still not arrived he is one big rip off merchant
Guest wbottomley Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 If he hasn't shipped you the controllers or refund the money, that is criminal activity on state and federal levels.
Tim Fischer Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 His website is gone. He hasn't updated his FB page in months. He's been removed from the LOR partner page. Dozens of people have reported either problems with their order, or non-shipment of the order. He donated some prizes to the C3 conference over Labor Day and that's the last I've (indirectly) heard from him. Before he completely fell off the earth, he was on the LOR Users facebook group making every excuse in the book. People called him on it and he came clean, saying he got in over his head but planned to make it up to everyone. That's about the last anyone heard from him.
Arteom Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 As mentioned before, displaysinmotion.net is currently an open domain name and is for sale, its not longer an operating website. Their Facebook page has been inactive for a while. File a PayPal or credit card dispute to hopefully get your money back and go ahead and order from a trusted source (like LOR).I'm sorry this had to happen to you so close to the season, But you should have known something is wrong a month or two after ordering. However companies that treat their customers like this really pisses me off... I own my own small online "business" and if a client paid for something, its my #1 priority to get it out to them or refund the payment if I can't. 1
larrym20 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I bought a controller from them on eBay a few months back with no issues, but when trying to contact them for more I never got a response. Maybe check for them on eBay. How did you pay? PayPal has some awesome protections in place.
Orville Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) I bought a controller from them on eBay a few months back with no issues, but when trying to contact them for more I never got a response. Maybe check for them on eBay.How did you pay? PayPal has some awesome protections in place.Yes PayPal and Ebay sure do! I not only got a full refund on some items I bought from a certain person off E-Bay and paid via PayPal, but kept getting excuses why the items were not being shipped and other excuses. Items finally did show up, but way past the timeline allotted by the seller. So PayPal and E-Bay both checked into it and found the seller was making excuses that were not at all factual, and yes, I even asked if I needed to send the items back to the seller to both PayPal and E-Bay since they finally did arrive, but about 5-6 weeks later than they should have per the sellers own statements and E-Bays shipment policies,I also offered to take only a partial refund for my issues since I finally did get the items. Now it did take a few e-mails back and forth to E-Bay and PayPal, e-mails from the seller always either gave me excuses as to why my items were not being shipped, i.e. UPS/FedEx or USPS was snowed out and not operating at the time, but when this COULD NOT be verified as factual and found that, yes, these services were still operating and were not shut down at the time due to weather issues and e-mails going unanswered, And I had to send any correspondence via e-mail to both PayPal and E-Bay to back my claims I had attempted and done everything I could with the seller before I filed my dispute over the issue.I was given a full refund and also got to keep the merchandise that showed up. Again, I did ask about sending everything back, but since I was in a dispute everything was handled via E-Bay and PayPal and told to let them handle it and they would tell me what to do at the outcome.Which was I got to keep the items and get a full refund, including all shipping charges!.So if I were to happen to buy from someone other than LOR directly or someone I have used and know that I have always gotten my items from, it will always go through PayPal just to protect myself and my investment, in case anything ever happens like that again.Hopefully they did use PayPal and not a direct transaction with that particular site, then there's a much better chance of getting their issue resolved, if not, it's more of Caveat Emptor {Buyer Beware} when doing direct transactions. Surfing4Dough Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I wonder if LOR will step in in any way to rectify the situation since he was an Official LOR Partner at the time? Or at least have input on what to do if you got shafted? Partners Light-O-Rama Certified Partners use Light-O-Rama technology in their products. Partners have the same commitment to quality and support as we do. Feel confident when working with a Light-O-Rama partner that your project will be a success.http://www.lightorama.com/PartnerNearMe.html 2
ace_master Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 He came recomended to me as well.I'm wondering if those prizes he donated at C3 were part of my order, lol.I do have a dispute open with PayPal, but havn't heard back from them since it was opened. When opening the dispute, it said that I could not message the seller, and that I had to go directly to filing a claim... at which point I typed in details leading up to the claim, and it said that they were going to get in contact with the seller, to resolve the matter. Sure hope that means "get your money back".Anyone have a link to that facebook post where he admitted to being over his head with the orders/company? I would like to know when and how he is going to make up for these issues.

imawlkr2 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I bought 3 or 4 controllers from him in the spring. Before he got in too deep. Had no issues, but wouldn't have bought from him again if he was still in business based on other peoples issues. I think I just got lucky, which rarely happens.
friskybri Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 i purchased 12 ccrs from him with no issues but this was back in feb or march before he got over his head.
Lee Long Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 He has screwed me for 2 controllers. He sent many different reasons and excuses back in august. He never once was man enough to tell me the truth. I know i should have seen the warning signs but i purchased controllers from him earlier in the year with no problems. At the time of buying these 2 controllers he was cerified LOR partner and the fact that they were a good price clouded my judgement somewhat. Lesson learnt !! The fact he has $400 dollars of mine really stings but the time i have lost in sequencing for 32 channels that i now don't have, stings as well.I'm sure Karma will catch up with him somewhere down the road
