Guest Don Gillespie Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Visa just called me apparently some one is using my Visa number down in Florida, New York and New Mexico, so at least they called me they are wiping off all the charges right now. and sending me a new card right now the last time I used the card was for Hitech lights for the LED keeper Pro hopefully no else gets scammed.
scubado Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) This sounds familiar, didn't this happen about a month ago with someone else or a few? Possibly with the same vendor? Edited October 14, 2012 by scubado

HiTechLights Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 HiTech Lights was not the responsible vendor for causing these CC fraud charges. Please see this link: http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/23271-major-appology/
Guest Don Gillespie Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I can attest to what HiTech Lights has said, they had nothing to do with the cc fraud that happened to me, I would buy from them in a heart beat, the service is fantastic and by the way if you haven't got your LED keeper pro yet what in the heck are you waiting for give Micheal a call and get yours now
David Rise Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Happened to me 4 times a few years ago. Happened about every 3 months or so. 1 of the times, my card traveled the world. I knew exactly where that originated and the place was run out of business about a year later. 3 of the times it was almost immediately after I used it to buy gas at the 7-11 down the street. After the 3rd time, everyone in the store was fired. I never paid a dime. It was just a temporary inconvenience not to have my card for a few days.My wife laughs at me because I use my card all the time. I don't carry much cash on me ever. I still don't. But I never contacted any of the suspected companies and never advertised it publicly. You just never know, even if you think you do, you really don't.Good advice, keep it to yourself, let the banks and authorities do their jobs.
Richard Hamilton Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I must be really lucky. I'm over 60, yet never had any credit card fraud and don't ever recall having a virus on my computer. I guess my time is up and soon they will be coming after me.
LORisAwesome Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I have a relative who works for a major credit card company. I asked her how these crooks can get my credit card number when I neve let the card out of my posession. She told me that someone behind you in line at the store can swipe something throught the POS scanner and harvest your number. That doesn't seem possible to me.I have also heard that they can sit out in the parking lot with some kind of receiver and grab the card numbers. This sounds a little more plausable to me. Ever notice that the stores have a sattelite dish on their roof?... I try to be careful when I get it out that someone doesn't take a photo of it with a cell phone camera. Not sure if that happens or not... I do know that sometimes servers in restaurants are recruited to get CC numbers. I never pay with a CC card in a restaurant, unless it is one where you pay at a cash register as you leave.I often wonder if services like lifelock are worth it. They deal more with identity theft than CC fraud.Jerry
