Troy_Connor
Has anyone made a leaping arch from rope light? If so how did you do it?

TDOVEL
I would imagine wrapping the rope light around a PVC tube..

Max-Paul
Hey MC,Do you recollect what size PVC pipe? To tight of a coil and you can have problems with the rope light.interesting and thanks
Troy_Connor
HAS anyone done it by cutting into the rope and breaking the circuit instead of wrapping the rope. I was thinking inserting it in white pex pipe if that would be ridgid enough, plus I am thinking it will give it more of a neon tube look. Any ideas on this
TDOVEL
With the rope light you won't be able to control the pixels individually... Each section would be on its own channel.. If your going to put in a tube just remember each section will have its own power cord.. Not sure if the tube would be big enough.. That is if I'm understanding correctly. Richard Hamilton
Yup I made a bunch of them and I think it really is the only way to go. The storage is easier and you don't risk breaking bulbs and wires. I think I have posted info on here about this in the past so you should be able to find it. I used rope light from Walmart. On a one inch diameter PVC pipe, you will get 5 sets (18 feet each) to fit perfectly on a 10 foot pipe.
Troy_Connor
My idea is to take rope light and cut at each segment, therefor making a pixel if you will, wiring them back up where you can then slide them into transluscent pipe (PEX). This will use far less lights but give the same effect. If anyone has any extra rope light that is designed to cut, I wouldlike to try a piece before buying a roll. I would think that's alot of cable to interfere with the actual light rope stuffed into the PEX.
Troy_Connor
You are somewhat correct. Keep in mind that in your controller all your neutrals are common, therefor it may be passible to break only one wire of the rope (hot side leaving the neutral attached). If this can be done then you will cut down on the number of wires ran in the pex. I am hoping to find a sample piece that I could test this theory on. I believe it may very well work and you would not need a large wire to carry this minimal load. If anyone has a piece they wouldlike to send me I will test this out and post the results for every one to see. I just dont want to buy a 150' roll to experiment with.
