Ken Benedict
Used AC controllers to fire off three confetti cannons during The Nutcracker ballet medley.Used a DC controller to ring church chimes (that was before I heard about Dan Baldwin's Chime-O-Matic): http://www.lightorama.com/chimeomatic.html
Jay Czerwinski
I've used mine as an alarm clock in the winter months to simulate a bright sunny sunrise - trying to energize the boilogical clock within to help me get up in the dark months. Tie that in to a favorite song or tweeting birds and it's exciting to wake up. (kinda)I have not had time to do a twinkling star filled night at bedtime yet.... Jay Czerwinski
I remember this post from over a year ago and wanted to share something new I came up with at work. We created a new deadbolt lock "Kevo" that uses your smartphone as a key, and you can email keys digitally with all kinds of controls like audit trails and remote access. Since you don't use a key, you simply touch the lock and it begins to exchange encrypted data with your phone to lock/unlock the door while flashing some LEDs at you to let you know the status of the lock. The product is doing rather well. http://www.kwikset.com/Kevo/default.aspx Anyway, the sales team was making a large display and aksed me if I knew a way to light up the lock. DO I???? Yeaaaaaayyy! I get to use Light-O-Rama at work!!!! I used a mDM-MP3 (mini Director Module with MP3 Player) and a Cosimic Color Pixel unit. Since it is in our corporate office, I was trying to do something subtle.... ....so a clock came to mind. But you know I had to make at least one sequence for this thing!!! It was really fun! I did hovever learn of some technical problems using this setup for a clock and am willing to share if anyone is interested. I may post in another forum later on about technical timing issues and the ideal controller to use... http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/k3EeXsdrowk/mqdefault.jpg Edited February 6, 2014 by Jay Czerwinski

There's all the questions and answers you ever want to know about water fountain displays here on the forum. A number of people have had great success: http://www.dogpile.com/search/web?fcoid=485&fcop=&fpid=27&qall=water+fountain&qexact=&qany=&qnone=&qimgc=All&qimgs=All&qlang=&qdomainf=Include&qdomain=forums.lightorama.com
a31ford
I've got the brain fart cap on at the moment, was thinking how one could use the RS-485 protocol to trigger LOR controllers for a "Sound to music" color organ type system (NOT for Christmas) rather for playing music at a party. say 2 controllers and some basic software on a laptop with the microphone as the trigger. It might have to be like a trigger of set "Runs" or groups doing a set count, I have no idea at this point, but was going to look into it later in the spring. Greg You might be thinking of a Color Organ: http://www.de-ssco.com/index.html and: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=color%20organ&sm=3 It would be great if there was some software that accepted an MP3 file and output a set of LOR channels that correspond to different frequencies and intensities. Maybe it's already out there and we don't know it. . .

I love em' I once made 12 of them 48"x24"x15" out of 3/4" plywood, C9 Christmas lights and diffuser plastic. We stacked them up behind my drum kit at the Colusa County Fair one night when we played there. It was awesome! So much fun.. But that was LONG before LOR. Don't know if it will work with newer LOR hardware. http://www.nopotatos.com/LORVis/
