timmy
I am trying to use one of our ribbons for the October awareness month of various things. One of which is Domestic Violence. This is a purple ribbon. I have tried to use several different combinations, all of which can not be differentiated between the pink for breast cancer awareness. Has anyone found a good combination to bring out a purple that does not almost match the pink? I must say the pink is the most amazing of pinks. Thanks in advance. I'm going to pull a spare ribbon out and mess around with the hardware utility and see what combo I can get with the ribbon hooked up, because the ribbon does not match the editor at all. timmy
I did it that way. When you view the ribbon in person it looks pink. Thanks for the suggestion.
tjflory
Back off the red and/or up the blue.tj
k6ccc
I just did some playing around to get some specific colors on some dumb 5050 strips. Likely will not match the CCR exactly, but might give you something to start with. I ended up taking a laptop out to the front yard and remotely controlling the show computer and brought up the hardware utility so I could play with levels. This is what I ended up with for a deep purpleR=100 / G=0 / B=50Halloween orange came out as: R=100 / G=10 / B=0
scubado
You'll get different results on what the lights are shing on. I get a nice orange with R=150, G=60 and blue at 10 shining on Tan stained green-treated wood as compared with k6ccc. I get nice purples on white vinyl siding with equal values of red and blue. timmy
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try and up the red and down the blue. I tried the exact opposite and it made it a little more purple than pink. Happy lighting to all. The season is upon us!

Santas Helper
I know this thread is a year old but forgot what the ranges were for purple and orange and had to look this thread up because I forgot. But to update from last year, what k6ccc and Jim said worked out great. So anyone looking for purple or orange for the RGB strips, here you go. A bump of good info and a reminder to myself.
k6ccc
Tom,Glad those numbers worked out for you. Remember that depending on the particular strips you have and as Jim Evans said, what they are illuminating, can radically affect the look. If at all possible, power them up in the place(s) where it or they will be installed and see what it actually looks like. I strongly suggest coming up with a way to control the lights from outside where you can see them rather than make a change, go outside to take a look, then back inside to adjust and repeat until satisfied. Much easier to control the lights from outside. You can either run the hardware utility from a computer outside or as I do, remotely control the show computer using a laptop outside. A lot less walking back and forth that way...
Santas Helper
My computer is in the garage so I just have to walk out a few feet to see what's going on. But you make a good point Jim.Thanks.
