I just received my first shipment from Ray, 20x120 flex strips, power supplies and connectors.

Second part of order shipped yesterday, due to arrive within the week.

I have found who Ray orders his strings thru. I got a quote from Jack Huang and he was cheaper by about 10%. Problem was his english was harder to understand and he did not carry everything i needed. The only thing left on my order is some rectangular RGB units. I ordered 110 of them, Ray apologized and said he ordered 3000 of them from the factory, it will be another 8 days.

This tells me he is keeping his own local stock which helps some of the delivery times.

Because of his reputation for service and his choice of items, i chose to go with the slightly more expensive Ray.

I am very satisfied. This close to lights on, i would hate to see something go wrong.

thanks

Does Ray have a web site for ordering items ?

I have ordered from Ray several different times. He custom built my pixels for me - a different spacing than normal. I expected a long delay for the custom order - less than 10 days my order was shipped.

Now there was an error in the shipping address on one of my orders. I called him personally to correct the problem - a very polite gentleman.

I have heard of a few folks that have had a snaffoo or two, but to my knowledge most everything turns out good.

I'll keep buying from him. I deal with him directly via email.

Here is a great post of why to be cautious when dealing with unknown Chinese vendors when trying to get a cheap price on lights

http://forums.planet...med-on-alibaba/

Yikes, do people think when they have a really long post, that making the font tiny makes it seem better? No way with my self-diagnosed ADD can I make it through that post...

To hell with AliExpress's payment gateway tho... I ain't sending anyone a picture of my ID after giving them my credit card. That's like ID Theft no no #1... No excuse for that.

I never had to do that with my "big" order earlier this season... Although it did trip a "fraud flag" on my wife's Visa card (they don't take Discover which is my primary card) and it was initially rejected, until we talked with the bank on the phone.

As a newbie I took the advise of the senior Forum members and Ordered from Ray

Versus unknown eBay sellers. So far I've Ordered twice from Ray and the first order

Came in perfect. My second order went in right before the Chinese holiday last month.

Ray informed me that it would ship after the holiday, he shipped it on 10/15/12 and I received

It yesterday. There was a small error but nothing that required to return or ask for a refund. I contacted

Ray and he replied right away, I will continue to order from Ray for my future lighting needs.

Ray is the best, defiantly scary ordering from china tho

All the more reason to order from him, since he has a good track record going..

Ray has a reputation that is hard to come by in his business. I've placed and received 2 orders with him with no real issues. I had 2 half-bad strings out of the 20 that I ordered this year. I sent him an email, he asked for an explanation of the problems, and I had replacements in hand within a week. No hassle.

I will continue buying lights from him and I recommend him to anyone I know that is interested in buying some as well.

I would add this to this thread. Whether you buy from Ray or anyone even on Ebay.

  1. Make sure you completely understand what you are ordering
  2. Make sure your vendor understands what you are ordering
  3. Mark sure you pay the price for the product you want
  4. Make sure the vendor charges you for the product you want
  5. Ray does not have an escrow account to hold things until you get and approve your order as some other Chinese sites do. I find this frustrating as Ray has made mistakes. Hence items 1-4 above.
  6. Ensure you get clear instructions on when your items will get shipped. This is key.
  7. Hold your vendor to those dates
  8. Tell your vendor you want updated emails with status reports
  9. Finally make sure your vendor is completely clear on your shipping address.
  10. Keep ALL your correspondance together until your products arrive, as you may need to reference it with your vendor if problems arise.

All I can say is that Ray and other vendors are prone to make mistakes. Attempt to mitigate them up front as much as possible. Once things are in your possesion, returns to China are near impossible. The post Fasteddy provided is a good read.
