Network for USB - RJ45 B

So I have a USB - RJ45 B and a RJ45. I have seen posts about using two universes to make the commands go faster to the controllers. I have 12 CCR's and 16 PC LOr controllers. Would you split them into two universes or run them off of one. \

Will the USB RJ45 B with two cat 5 cable outlets help by splitting them off there? I have always run everything off of one USB but am starting to wonder if I got two just run the CCR's off of one and the PC controllers off another?

The two ports on the USB-485B just allow it to be positioned anywhere along the length of the network. So half your controllers could be in the string to the left, and the other half on the string to the right. But it is still all one network. It just doesn't have to be installed at the end of the netowrk.

If you have a USB-485B, and a USB-485, I would probably reccommend 7 CCR on one, the remaining 5 on the other, and the regular controllers. It doesn't mater which one is which.

Yep, the USB485B's RJ45 jacks are not seperate, they are wired in parallel, creating only one universe. So splitting it there wouldn't help. You'll need to get a second USB485B unit to do that.

I think you may confuse some (if not yourselves) by referencing multiple LOR networks as universes. Universes are separate DMX channels, typically able to control 512 channels each. LOR metworks on the other hand are completely different.

Depending how busy your CCRs are, you may need to split them into additional networks. I'm running only 7 CCRs and have the best performance across 2 networks.

Note: That was with 2 USB485s. I just bought 2 USB485Bs & will test those in the next few days.
