how do I fade existing sequencing

I have talking faces already sequenced. I want to fade in/ out their existing "talking".

(have their faces fade in/out while they talk)

Is there a way to apply fading in this way?

Yes, try playing with the foreground effect button on and fades.

Select the time range and channels you want to fade. Push the "Foreground" button, then push the "fade down" button, and then push "enter".

Well that's embarrassing... The 4 right-hand buttons on that bar have been off-screen all this time, and I didn't even know it!
