Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Alright, so my 2 LOR boxes came today. I assembled both of them and things were going good. I followed the directions to a "T." Now, I installed the software and all the Control Panel Stuff. Heres the problem. I go into the hardware utility and set the unit ID's...blah blah blah. Heres the problem, no matter what box I connect, the LED starts flashing the second I close the hardware utility. I have the USB485, and I don't think that is the problem because it works just find when I run the tests in the hardware utility. I have all channels programmed right in the sequence editor so I am at a lost. Any ideas????GregAdded: Just to add to this. In the hardware utility, under "Select Unit to Configure...Download...Test" section when it finds the unit it says "01-Unknown Device??02"...Shouldn't it know the device??
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Greg,The LED will flash until you either play a sequence or when you activate a show. Closing the H.U. and the LED blinking is normal. Have you played a sequence with the "Control Lights" option checked? Try that first.Hope that helps.Tom
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I knew it would be something stupid. Where would I find the "Control Lights" box to check??Greg
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Run the LOR tray and click enable shows. Of course you will need a scheduled event for the blinking to stop
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Greg,When I do that the music plays but the lights are not doing anything. I know its got to be me. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Its only May and I am having trouble...LOLGreg
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Tom is absolutely correct. You need to have some type of LOR software communicating with the controller for the LED to stay on steady. Be it the Hardware Utility, the Sequence Editor, Control Panel etc. The flashing is an indicator to you that the controller is not in comm with LOR software. All is good, and you aren't in trouble... Back to testing...jeff
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Alright...so now I am in the sequence editor...the control lights is checked and the light is still blinking and nothing is happening with the lights.
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Ponddude wrote: I knew it would be something stupid. Where would I find the "Control Lights" box to check??GregGreg, nothing is stupid here. It's all about learning. Run a sequence. At the top where it has a button for "Play", click on that and scroll down to where it says "Control lights". Click that and then play the sequence. I have the USB adapter too so I've been there. Speaking of which, did you install the H.U from the disc?Hope that helps.Tom
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 One more thing to try. Click on "Auto Configure" in the H.U. and then try a sequence.Tom
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Greg, following up on my LOR Tray post, (when you are ready), x out of the sequence editor and disable shows then re-enable.Both ways SHOULD get you to run the lights, just the sequence editor is "on-demand" and the tray is automatic.Edited because I can't spel
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I think you've been caught by the same thing I got caught on. In the sequence editor right click on the channel (left most box for each channel), select change channel settings, pull down device type menu and select light o rama controller, assign controller id and circuit # and then your off to the races.By the way, good lookin puppy!!
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 First off...THANK YOU EVERYONE!!I didn't change the port in the Sequence editor...which is why I didn't see it going...DUH!!Tom...also thank you, I did get your PM but was just a second to late...I had figured it out!!And Grump...yes, I am a proud beagle owner...LOLThanks again everyoneGreg
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Greg,I'm glad to hear you figured it out. One good thing about this chatroom is, when a person has a problem and everyone jumps in on the help but you figured it out on your own, it still has the opportunity for someone else reading this to learn from it and take notes. Why? Because we threw out possibilities of what might be the problem, but you answered the problem with something different. Everyone's suggestions could have been the answer and I'm glad to hear your troubleshooting fixed the problem after all. That's what it's all about.Just my thoughts,TomEdit: Spelling

Last year i had tried using the hardware utilty but it did not work and I noticed it was missinga few tabs at the top. So I found a new hardware utilty that had more tabs and it worked great. Was the good hardware utility on the disk? Where was the bad one, I completly forgot.
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Richard,I believe if you had done the firm ware update to the boards last year you had to use the new hardware utility. The firmware update was designed for the controllers to be able to speak to the new devices they offered last year (wireless and mp3 director). Without the firmware update you couldnt use those devices, and without the new hardware utility you couldn't acces the controllers with the hardware utility because of protocals. Essentially you could compare to updating a driver on your computer because you upgrading the operating system.
Guest guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Yeah...JRV is right. I originally didn't install the h.u. from the cd that came with the USB connector even though the instructions said to do it. Once I did install it the h.u. had more tabs for things like rf signals and such. Didn't really look into it though because I had such a time getting the lights activated anyway. Once thing I did notice though was the version numbers were the same no matter if I used the one from the cd or the one I downloaded with the software. All I know is I have had the 2 boards for less then 8 hours and I already want more...good thing that sale is going to be around for a while...:laughing:Greg
