Frybread
Afternoon everyone.I am trying to get things ready. I was just checking my mDM-MP3 mini Director. I am trying to connect to an external power source so I can put it on a timer.I checked my power supply and plugged the positive into 6 and negative into 4When I plig it in. the light on front blinks a few times then goes out.In the book it said it would blink but does not state if it should go out or stay on after that. So, Is it suppose to go out or stay lite? At this time I do not have anything else plugged into it.Thank You
EARLE W. TALLEY
I just checked mine, when first pluged in you get fast blinks, then the blinks are slower, but keeps blinking. I would change your leads around and try that, if no blinks at all then you were correct the first time and you have some other problem.Earle
Surfing4Dough
Did you remove the power jumper as described on page 12 of the manual (pg 6 of the pdf)?http://www.lightorama.com/PDF/mDM-MP3_Man_Web.pdf
Frybread
Yes. I removed the jumper, I will have to reverse the leads and see if that makes a difference. I am using a 9V power supply but when I put it on my meter it can read about 12.5 V Would this make any difference?
EARLE W. TALLEY
Also make sure that you don't have an SD card in the Mini Director. You will find that many of the wall warts will exceed what they should be putting out, I don't think 12.5v will hurt anything, but you may want to find one closer to 9v. I got a bunch from the flea market for $ .50 ea and found 2-3 within +1 v and are using them. Just don't exceed 1 amp as per specs.Earle
Tim Fischer
That's because most wall-warts are unregulated power. When they're up near their rated load, they'll put out their rated voltage. When they're under no-load or a small load, they'll put out a higher voltage. Most devices have their own voltage regulator so it shouldn't really matter.
