Santas Helper
I found this web site that is a model for forecasting future weather.http://wxweb.meteostar.com/models/ipsm_looper.php?PROD=2012091506_CON_GFS_SFC_WINDS_SLPI used it to keep on eye on Isaac when she was approaching the U.S. days in advance. It was pretty accurate too.Now I'm using it to see winds and cold fronts coming. You can change filters to see precip, winds and lots of other stuff.Didn't know if this would be useful to others, especially you folks up north but maybe it can help to see whats coming your way as winter starts to creep in.You can change the location for a more select area and stop the animation and click the arrow to advance each slide at your own pace. What I like about this current setting is it shows the Low & High pressure areas and direction of the winds for the next week or so. A little more in depth versus our current weather men around here.Besides, I can't rely on weather men around here in Oklahoma. scubado
Thanks for the tip. The forcast is more detailed than the local liers.
Guest wbottomley
Keep in mind... The GFS and NAM models are updated twice daily - 0Z & 12Z. The RUC has been replaced the RAP or WRF model. These are only forecast models and sometimes they can miss features in your local area during certain seasons.
Ron Boyd
Aah but remember fellows, a meteorologist is a perfect job. I should have been one for the simple reason of,What job do you know of that you can be 100% right or wrong, and anything anywhere in between, and still get paid and not get fired?Just a thought. Ron Boyd
But... at least they are more truthful than a politician! Agreed 100%.I guess i mis-worded my post. It was meant to be a compliment, but after re-reading it, I guess it didn't sound like one. I apologize to all the meteorologists out there.
