tlathum
Hi guys,I just got my LOR new system and started trying to create a sequence. My setting from what I’ve learned by watching tutorials from Light O Rama and others is.1. In the Initial Timing I set it for a tenth of a second. I do this because I found the beat wizard doesn’t set the beats where I want them.2 in the Play option on the file menu at the top I choose the slowest time and use the space bar to stop where I hear the first beat I want to set.The problem is that when I stop and set the beat and hit the space bar to start again it doesn't start at where I stopped. I've tried using the option in the Play Range menu but still it start the song somewhere else than where I stopped it, and this throws the all the beats off that I've already have set. I don't have a problem at the begging of the song just when I get further into it. the only way I can keep it all straight is if I let the track go all the way back to the beginning and that is time consuming at the least. Am i missing something or is there a setting that I not choosing. I hope all this makes sense and if you can help me I would greatly appreciate it.ThanksTim
TheUltimate
Have you tried setting the play range to "from selection" I haven't played with that myself but it was a thought... Someone much more intelligent with these things will have a more concrete answer but I thought I would give you something to try...
Orville
Have you tried taking your mouse and setting on the timeline at the top of the track, right click and drag the mouse on the section you're working on for the duration, then release the mouse. The area will be highlighted, now when you press the space bar it will always start at the beginning of the area you set, but it's easier than starting all the way at the beginning of the sequence each time. This is how I am doing my sequencing as it works out very well for me, especially when doing vocals or specific beats running the song/music at 1/2 speed. scubado
The space bar will start the music from where you have a selected box. The other issue you may be experiencing is a variable bit rate MP3 file. Open the song in Audacity and the save it making sure it set to fixed 128 bit. Some here prefer to use .wav music files. There are numerous threads if you need help with Audacity.Welcome aboard! Now to go try Orv's idea, that was a new idea to me.Hey, I learned something new today, thanks Orv! Max-Paul
And here it has been working for me if I left click on the time line and drag to the right to highlight the area I want to work in.
Orville
And here it has been working for me if I left click on the time line and drag to the right to highlight the area I want to work in.was going to put this in as an EDIT to the above, but time ran out for that. So, thank you Max-Paul, you're right it is a LEFT click. I ended up getting a phone call from a friend on a magazine AD I'm designing for him as I was trying to type that in. So I missed that. However, it might be a right click if you're left handed and have your mouse set up reversed from what right handed folks use. I reversed my mouse settings once and was that ever interesting. LOLOrville, never knew you did ad design. Do you have a portfolio of your work?
Orville
Orville, never knew you did ad design. Do you have a portfolio of your work?I don't and no portfoilio. It's just that folks have seen business cards I've designed and actually sold to CSX and Amtrak employees, flyers and posters I've designed for folks for finding lost pets, public and private events from time to time. It's just a knack I seem to have, so my friend called me to create an Ad for magazine and newspaper publication. I even did a Halloween display flyer for a fellow forum member here, but can't post it seeing they have not posted them for their display, but they have already taken it to their printer for printing. It's just something I do as a side hobby and many times I design and create these for folks at little or no charge, especially if they are going to take them to their own printer for printing.p.s. Sorry for the Hijack of the thread, back to your regularly scheduled topic. Edited September 3, 2012 by Orville
tlathum
Thanks Guys, all your advice worked after I applied the advice that Scubado had suggested. Now I just need to mess around a bit and learn all the other options I have to play with. Again thanks so much for the advice.
