Don
You have a G3 board.LOR was going to call the new controllers Gen2. However, the software was at S3 so they thought it would be good to get things in sync and have G3 controllers and S3 software.Unfortunately the silkscreen on the green cards reads the original name for the card CTB16PCG2 because of an oversight. Don
don just a quick one how can you tell tell the differnce between the boardsIn what way? The newer controllers (commonly referred to as "G3") will have the previously noted "G2" designation on them.
scooby
I think he was asking is there any way of telling off the components Edited September 2, 2012 by scooby
Orville
When I just looked at my Controllers {don't have a Gen3}, the label is NOT at the top left of the board for the revision, it's at the bottom somewhat hidden by the dongle and power cord wiring.1 controller I have at the bottom: CTB16PC V14 controllers: CTB16PC V2Now I would think the new Gen3 controllers being V3 would have it as CTB16PC V3 on the Gen 3 boards. But since I don't own a Gen3 controller as yet, I can't say if the new controllers were silk screened in this way.But you might want to check there to see, you never know. TJ Hvasta
ok, am I missing something.. can you not tell the G3 board from G2 from the installed components?G3: http://www.lightoram...6PCGen3Card.jpgG2: http://ep.yimg.com/c...222_3722948.jpgG2 has the 18pin header to the right of the sockets, G3 to the left of the sockets.. really, how hard is that? Orville
Orville,See my post above.Okay, so they used G2 instead of V3 as all my controllers have a V for Version, not a G for Generation. And mine are all labeled at the bottom center of the PCB, not on the upper left corner. Mine have "LIGHT O RAMA INC" on the upper left corner of my CTB16PC PCB's.That's why I posted look at the bottom of the board. Did they move the CTB16PC Vx silk screening to the upper left on the new boards?EDIT: Okay TJ just answered my question above with the photo links to the PCB's. The new boards ARE labeled in the upper left, the older V1/V2 boards ARE labeled BOTTOM CENTER. So that should tell anyone which generation board they actually have. {Or so I'd think!}Would have thought QC would have caught that from the first PCB through! George Simmons
Plus, you can tell according to the status light - at least with the PC boards. Was red, now it's green. If you're color blind, it was bigger, now it's smaller. If you're male and can't bear to think that thought, it was upper right, now it's upper left. And if you can't tell right from left, look for someone selling their stamp collection and trade your LOR boards for that.

Orville
I think I'll foul some folks up and remove all my RED LED's on my controllers and change them to Blue or maybe even one of those self-changing RGB type LED's.
TJ Hvasta
and see, here, I wudda thot that all this time the G3/V3/Third incantation of this board has been out, someone smarter than me wudda noticed the differance in a buncha stuff. header, color, components, printing..
