Richard M
Just bought a set of security cameras with six cameras by Samsung 4001-sde. Not sure if I did the right thing. They don't have audio. Sometimes I like to hear what the spectators are saying. Before, I had one small camera that I connected to a small tv that the camera had audio. I'm only 20 feet from the road where people park. Not only that, but I could hear if kids were gettng close to do damage. Then I would go outside and they would stay a good distance away. Not all kids do damage but you can tell if a group is daring each other. Anybody have such experiences with cameras, audio and kids?

Santas Helper
Did you purchase cameras with the "audio" option (built in mic)? Some sets sold, the camera is just video with no audio option in them.
spomalley
You could always buy a microphone.
Dave Batzdorf
You really have to watch recording audio and video. In "most" places video is ok. But once you put audio to the video now you're in a whole different security question. Once again check with you're local LEOs for advice.

mixnight
What kind of connector has your camaras??? something like a phone connector??? if yes, check if the phone connecor has 6 little wires coming in into the connector, if is 6 is like this:2 par of little wires for video, other 2 par of little wires for audio and the other 2 little wires is for the camera power, so if you want to hear what the people says about your display or what ever you want, first you must set the camara at the display place to be the camera with the audio, the samsung DVR allow to record/listen one camera audio, get into the menu and search for the audio option for cameras into your DVR. once you are done, choose the camera pressing the camera number with the remote control or at the DVR and you are able to hear. I can't imagine a state that wouldnt consider the recording (or listening to without recording) of one side of a conversation a felony, usually called eavesdropping and by example its a big felony in Colorado. Many states allow for recording without permission by what is called the "one party rule" that is if one party to the conversation gives permission then the other parties do not have to give permission. This is how so many undercover "wires" are admissible in court. The police officer or informant gives their permission. Some states also allow for recording if there is ample posted warning that the area if under "audio and video survelilance." I can only imagine the damper it would put on the old Christmas spirit to see some of those signs posted around a display. Just a suggestion, I would just go with the video and try to learn lip reading like they do in the NFL. LOL
