TheUltimate
Not sure if this belongs in the newbie section or not but... Since I am a newbie almost everything I have to post tends to belong here :0)I worked on my welcome voice over today and want some feedback. Is the background music too loud, should I talk slower, should I find someone else to do the talking (aka you sound horrible). I appreciate all feedbackThanks,
Ken Benedict
Voice sounds good, but a little slower and more energy wouldn't hurt either.Your reference to Facebook might be moved to your website, instead of audio track.Music background is fair, but long musical intro before talking. Consider 1-3 seconds of silence at front, while you bring up something visual and the crowd has their oohs and aahs.Looks like an excellent display so far, so keep us posted on your progress.
TheUltimate
Great suggestions! There is a big circle directly across the street. People normally park there and watch. Funny you should mention the length of the song before talking, my son said the exact same thing.
wallleyes
I sequence out all of my voice overs that i have the demented elf do.You could say...please dim your lights to your parking lights.I see no problem with the length of the voice over as most people will watch if the lights are blinking :)Your wizards in winter sequence looks good.Your off to a great start. scubado
Keep in mind, some people can't turn their headlights off, such as my wife's Grand Prix. Good voice and agree with above suggestions.
Orville
Agree with others, shorten the music, as it is, it's a bit long before your announcement starts. I would also not have all lights static on, but have at least a few either twinkling or shimmering in some sections for interest. As for headlights off, most newer cars have DRL {Daytime Running Lights} and they are on as soon as the ignition is turned on, some even have them on in the "ACC"essory position of the keyswitch, the only way to turn them off in my GMC is by setting the parking brake. Which is what I do when I visit displays. Personally I prefer the old days when you had a SWITCH you could push, flip, twist or pull to turn on/off your lights! Unfortunately, newer vehicles seem to be hardwired to the ignition and are on no matter what position it's in. {Now why don't they hardwire the Windshield Wipers to the headlights too? As even the newer cars I've seen when the wipers are on, their headlights are off! Always makes me wonder about that can't turn my headlights off comment when I see them in downpours and NO lights on!}Anyway, I'd still leave the headlight off anouncement in the voiceover despite those cars that claim they don't have the option to turn them off. I think they do, just the owner hasn't figured it out yet.
TheUltimate
just an fyi... the reason the lights are static is because it's just a picture. I needed to use a picture to make it a video so I could upload to youtube and hence post here. So I would have a sequence to go with it but I didn't want to waste time sequencing something that would most likely get changed anyway. I agree with the headlight comment. I will either note if possible or leave it out.

Steven
... should I talk slower, ...Studies have shown that people pay more attention when listening to fast talking.Within reason.Your announcement sounds great, and I agree with the other comments above. nucmed24
what program are you using to record your audio? btw, great job. I agree with shortening the beginning, and the end. I thought the speed of your speech was fine.
TheUltimate
I used Audacity to record it and add the music. I have a cheap USB headset that I used for the microphone.
DownTown
Your voiceover sounds pretty good. I think music in the beginning is a little long, as others have said. I would have used Christmas music too. Also, I like to have my music volume start at the same level as the rest of the sequences, but then when I start talking, I use Audacity to lower the volume of the music so you can hear me speaking. Then, when I finish, I raise the music volume back to where it was, and after a few seconds, I fade it down to nothing...D.T.
