marsh28
Is there a way to wire the rainbow spotlight (in conjunction with the rainbow brain) without using a pigtail? Can you just cut off the one end of a CAT 5 cable and connect the individual wires to the light itself? If so, does anyone know what goes where? TJ Hvasta
I use 5 Rainbow Floods and 4 Spots (the old versions, not the round ones).. several are Cat5 soldered to the boards, some arrrre Cat5 socketed, but I'm not using the Brain.. mine go from soldered (on one end) to a Cat5 plug to a Cat5 socket which is wired into the LOR DC board. If you were using a LOR DC board, I'd say, yes, snip off the end, split the wire pairs for each color and plug into the corresponding channel. As for which pair goes where.. doesnt the board have which hole is which color (silk-screened printed) ? When I did mine, I noted which pair went to which soldered color hole, then ran DC to the pair.. if it didnt light, I reversed the pair, it lit.. Ponddude
Yes, this can be done. The reason why the Spotlights don't have jacks on them is simply because the Spotlights were designed to be completely submersible with the enclosures we offer. At cat-5 cable would not all that to happen. However, if you are not using the enclosures you can do it this way...Orange wire - RED holeBlue wire - GRN holeBrown wire - BLU holeIn theory you only need one wire for the positive connection but we recommend you wire the Orange Strip, Green Strip and Brown Strip wires all together and put that in the COM hole of the Spotlight. That is the wiring pinouts for the Brain and how all our basic Rainbow lights are wired. You can find this information in the Rainbow Floodlight User Manual (not published in the Spotlight manuals) on our Downloads page.https://www.seasonalentertainmentllc.com/downloads.htmGreg
