scubado Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I have two large octagon shaped flowerbeds with about 1000 RGBW leds that light the rim. The RGB are solid colors, the white is segmented to be able chase and other effects. Each bed has a fuse in case of a short, protects the DC card. The weird thing is when one fuse blows(can't have all 4 colors on at same time) that bed will still receive 1/2 power from the other bed and other weird behaviors can occur. I thought I had blown another fuse, check fuse, its good. No 12V at a junction near the suspect bed. I inspect the wire run for a chewed or pinched spot in the harness, about a 50' run, found nothing. There were a couple spare wires in the harness so I switch the 12V to the unused wire, still no 12V out to the bed. Recheck fuse holder again, stick the fuse in the power side and meter directly from the fuse, nothing. The contact that the fuse was supposed to mate with was recessed and the fuse couldn't make contact. I found another fuse holder and compared the two, apparently the main mating surface broke and fell out. What a pain in the a$$!
George Simmons Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ... apparently the main mating surface broke and fell out... Good thing that didn't happen to my Mom before I was born...
