Don't forget. Hackers can get into the bank system or credit card systems to get info.

Now days, you make sure your bank has fraud protection to get your funds back.

I had this happen to me earlier this year but with a debit card. Similar situation.. Some jerk hit me up for $700 worth of cosmetics and other stuff. Bank caught it but it had already pulled out of my checking account. Then I find out that the bank as a 10 day waiting period before they will declare it a loss and refund my money. In the end, the bank covered me but it held of $700+ of MY money for a week and a half.

I had funds pulled from an ATM machine in Romania from a debit card a couple years ago (no one has my pin number but me, but they created one), then from the west coast and canada last year.

There is no figuring it out. Just make sure you have fraud protection.

The thing is, they can get your CC# or account # (even from a department store you shop at) and then some how make a pin number to work at that ATM location.

Could be spyware, could be a lot of different possibilities. Typically has nothing to do with the vendors you may have been using. No doubt not everyone at every bank and credit card company is 100% above the law.

If anyone gets the card number, and the 3 digit security code, depening on your bank or credit card company, they may or may not flag it very fast. But thats all they need to go on an online shopping spree.

Thought of that too.

Thanks for the download. ( nothing found) also have Kaspersky and found nothing

also use the On screen keyboard ( they can pick up keyboard clicks not mouse click so far) to enter stuff

Just glad KTA called and ask if I ordered this stuff that is how I found out. funny thing he googled me and found my website and called THANK YOU LOR :)

(meaning with out them I wouldn't have a website )

I was on eBay 3 years ago and I purchased a $8,000 LED Printer (Xerox 7400) for the company I work for and I used pay-pal as method of payment and many weeks go by.....no printer, so I emailed the seller, got a bounce-back. user doesn't exist. hmmmm so I called pay-pal and they wanted me to be certain that I infact tried to call/email this seller I talked to pay-pal support on the phone and he said, "we will be in touch" a few days later I got an email from pay-pal saying "your money has been refunded, and you will never hear from that person again" thats when I signed up for the pay-pal credit card

About 2 years ago I had someone try to buy $25,000 worth of "Chinese Wholesale Goods" from a wholeseller in China. Since it happened in the middle of the night I had no clue, but the next morning, the bank called me and asked me to verify my order and I immediately canceled the card. About a week later, same thing happened, only this time with my debit card for $10,000 worth at the same wholeseller in China. Bank flagged it both times, but the bank flagged the debit card transaction because it overdrew my account.

After a few days of dealing with the bank trying to get charges reversed, I finally stormed into my local branch, closed out the accounts I had, and moved my money to a different bank. Haven't had a problem since with the exception of one minor problem with a defective credit card reader at the local Hooters, which the restaurant reported to the bank and they immediately sent me a new card (just to be safe).

Which is why for now on whenever making online purchases, I have the ability to create virtual credit cards that only work with certain vendors. Once I'm done using a card, I delete it; that way if someone illegally tries to use it, the charge will not process. I also try to use PayPal for purchases whenever possible, but sometimes that is not available.

So, yeah, Jeff 1S.A.H.D. I understand what you are going through. It's a lengthy process to resolve but in the end it will clear itself up; you just need a lot of patience.

I had my bank create a Traveling Credit Card that I only use when Paypal isn't available; I load it up for that single transaction, make the transaction and the account is then down to less that $5. It can be cancelled anytime and is not linked to any other bank accounts. Available at several banks, including Wells Fargo.

Works well.

One way they get credit card numbers is when you pay by credit card at a restaurant. Server brings the bill, you pull out the plastic, server takes plastic somewhere to process, server makes a copy of the numbers, server brings back bill cc slip, you sign it. Server then sells cc number to identity thief.

I've been told they can get numbers right out of the air with the right receiver, near any store. Not sure if that is true or not.

it is true!

They can use a device to scan your card and transmit it to someone out in the parking lot.
