rainyoregonchristmas
Depends, where are you located? Generally speaking, most large steel shops have a scrap yard out back and often sell remnants by the pound. Its often cheaper than a whole sheet that's shiny and new. BEWARE of the cut charge, often shops charge $8-20 if they cut it for you. So scrounge around in the yard to find a closer size, or buy a larger piece and cut it yourself. james campbell
I agree, look for a local machine shop and heck you may get it for free as long as you don't want a big sheet just scraps.Where I work we always have bar ends and some scrap sheet stock just laying around Edited August 3, 2012 by james campbell
Jerry
Funny this was posted. I was looking at Lowes just yeaterday for some parts for my donation box. thay wand $30 for a 12"x12" 1/4 plate. Juat a tad too much in my opinion. I sugest some other place besides Lowes for these items. I know not an answer to the question but a place not to go to.+ 1 on that. Lowes is NOT the place to go for any kind of steel . Check with your local welding shop.Jerry
