I forget where the default location is, as I've moved mine around. However, the is a button called "Timings" and next to that a drop-down menu selection. The drop-down menu will let you choose between the timing grids stored with that sequence. You can also go to Edit -> Timings -> Switch Timing Grid to choose between the timing grids (and tracks it would seem.)

Did you paste by cell? Or by time? Assuming you have the right audio file, if you paste by time, the timing grid won't matter.

I did paste by time. The only thing I can see that my grid and the other sequence is there is a difference of 2 seconds. the time at the end of the song is dead. would this make a difference?Do i need to paste by cell that would take forever!

if you click paste by cell in the menu to the left it will fill what you paste the the cells you have so if you cut a 2 second effect and paste it to a 1.5 second cell in your sequence it will just fill the 1.5 seconds

Paste by time is the way to go. To make things line up, you need to insert a timing mark (right-click, insert timing at...) into your sequence at the EXACT same time as the first lighting event occurs in the donor sequence. Copy from that point to the end in the donor sequence and paste at that precise time in your new sequence.
