vancouverdude_84 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Hi Everyone. I am starting this year to slowly convert over to LED's but I am not sure which style would be best for my application. Have people found better results with the 5mm or the M6 or do most of you typically go straight to the C6 style? Most of my lights end up on bushes or tree's, with C6's outling the house.
Steven Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 These are my personal preferences, your style will vary.I prefer 5mm on bushes, and C6 on trees. I don't have any M6, as I think they look better indoors.
Ron Boyd Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) If you're going to use Coroplast and punch the lights through, M5s work best for that. M6s will work but it's harder to push in. In my experience with the 5MMs (just 1 season mind you) they have to be pointing toward your audience to get the full effect. I may not have had the right ones though. Mine came from Target. C6s, I have not used yet, I did order a few strings of the C6 color change LEDs, but they will be used for a specific purpose and not hooked up to the controllers. I do have some C3Net lights from Home Depot and I really liked the output of them. It all comes down to personal preference in the end. I actually converted from 40% LEDs last year to 100% this year and all of mine are M5 and M6s.Hope this helps. I do tend to get a little long winded.I see you're a new forum user, or maybe a seasoned pro, if you are new, welcome.Ron Edited June 29, 2012 by dariansdad
Tim Fischer Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I think it's all personal preference. I much prefer M5/M6's in general, but also use the others in some cases (e.g. I have 5mm icicles and use some c6's in trees). To me the M-style look more like classic minis, which is why I like them. 1
TitusCarnathan Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 For my leds I mainly use M6's since they have more of a mini light design Personally for trees If I were to use a C style bulb I would use C9 bulbs
vancouverdude_84 Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 Thanks for the replys. That's what I kind of suspected with the 5mm, not being very bright unless you are looking at the right angle. From what I have seen online and on youtube today, the M6's seem to be a safe bet to me. I was looking at the ones that CDI is offering right now durring there summer sale, does anyone have experience with the brightness of these compared to a normal set of incans? Thanks!
Guest wbottomley Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I only have M6 LEDs. Take a look at them on my trees to see if you like or not. 1
