paralegalnc Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 so my two additional controllers came yesterday (now I have 3 for my first year) ..... just ordered the FM transmittor.... now all I need is MORE lights. Its June... shouldn't they be putting Christmas stuff out by now???anyone got the sequencing to a spirling mega tree they'd be willing to share?
paralegalnc Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 went to Home depot today.... they said they won't start putting lights out until September. SEPTEMBER!!! WTH September is too late!! don't they know I have a 12 ft tree that needs lights?? snowflakes! a sign!
rainyoregonchristmas Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I've seen stuff put out in August for Christmas, that or some places like Rite Aid have "Garden Lights" that are in the garden section right now. They're incans and LEDs repackaged for summer time, but they are WAY overpriced. I'd say go to some of the sights listed in the forums and buy your lights online.-RainyOregonChristmas
EARLE W. TALLEY Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Spirling Mega Tree, look at these and tell me which ones you want. Send me yor e-mail address.Earle
Robert G. Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I have some sequences for arches and mega trees on my site. Pretty much both work the same way. I also have a tutorial video on how to create your own arch/mega tree sequence. www.ourlightdisplay.webs.com
WilliamS Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Sequencing is much more time consuming than the props, get to work now if you can on the sequences. The props will come when the lights come out!
paralegalnc Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 yeah but i need the tree so I can see if the sequencing is right for this tree. Hate to find out in november that it's not. the spiral tree is giving me a headache. I got everything else done
George Simmons Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Spiral tree sequencing is actually pretty easy - surprisingly easy as a matter of fact - so you can relax on that count. If you set up a spiral tree in the Visualizer, except for it being a bit smaller, it will look EXACTLY like what a real one looks like. 1
paralegalnc Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 easy for you to say George!!! lol I just figured out how to do the visualization I think. Pretty cool actually. I've figured it out to go simply down... I guess maybe. little difficult I guess for 5 channels doing spirals and 4 channels in a wedge...
Ineedmorelights Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I've found that it is better to use more channels than props to get the desired effects that you are wanting in your display. You will always need more lights, but the sequencing is the most important part... and takes the most time. Also, for your first year, give yourself an extra week to whatever you thought you needed already. I am willing to bet you will run short on SPT2 or vampire plugs, lights, power receptacles, and the buffer room will pay dividends when you are rushing. Plus every prop I add each year takes additional time to build and troubleshoot. Just my advice. Welcome to the fun!
paralegalnc Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 thanks Ineedmorelights...so what you are saying is I should have started at Easter?? LOL. My husband is my stage mananger/prop manager. He's a contractor and can build anything. We have the guitars done complete with lights. The frames for the snowflakes are done, just need lights. One wire tree is done...just need lights (Christmas in July sale at the thrift store is coming up) my mega tree is built and lights for the wedges are one them as of this morning...just need to put the swirly part on them...but with 100+ degree weather...it's kinda hard to get anything done outside. Then the sign for the fm station. I do need to order the spt wire and plugs. anyone got a really good place to get them?
jldavis1969 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Here is a link that you can order SPT-1 or SPT-2 (thicker insulation) from:Skycraft surplus : http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/lampcord.aspxMaybe someone can comeup with a place that has the zip plugs (also known as vampire plugs)
tjflory Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I get 18ga SPT-1, 250 ft at Menards for $34.00, and off-season lights from 1000 bulbs (online). Vampire plugs about 42 cents each (lots of 50) at LEDGen online.tj
