callycoon
I am looking to switch out all of my incandescents this year for LED's. I have been looking around on the internet for price comparisons and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where I can go to get the best deals. I have spent most of my budget on controllers and CCP's this year and am looking to avoid going to far on the LEDs. Any help would be appreciated.Chris
Dave H1
how many strings are you anticipating to replace and what colors??
callycoon
I am using them mainly for singing elements, so white would be fine. As far as how many. I would guess around 1300
LORisAwesome
I bought some cheap LED strings a few years ago. I got what I paid for. Two of the strings were bad right out of the box. There were a lot of failures by the third year. It was so bad that I am replacing those strings. I'll probably just use them in the bushes until they fail.Since then, I've found out about CDI http://www.creativedisplays.com/.They may not be the cheapest, but, they have a quality product that they stand behind. They also have excellent customer service.I seem to remember a thread where it was mentioned that CDI is having a summer sale. I think 20% off was mentioned. If I can find the thread, I'll post the link.Jerry
LORisAwesome
Here is the thread. It was started by Paul Sessel the owner of CDI. If you go to the 2nd page and scroll down to the end he mentions a Christmas in July sale.http://forums.lightorama.com/forum81/32510.htmlJerry
BillyT
Changing over to LED's is not an inexpensive proposition, though only 1300 lights isn't all that bad (I'm changing over 40,000). My plan is to complete the change in one or two more years. The service Paul at CDI gives is exceptional!
zman
The absolute best time to order LEDs, to get the cheapest price from any of the vendors, is in the Feb/Mar/Apr timeframe. They put in thier seasonal orders at that time and allow us to piggy back on them. Those are referred to as Pre-season orders. Keep an eye on the forums for those announcements. Most vendors will offer other sales in the summer or around large meetings like Expo or Academy (if you attend the events).Word of advice, dont order just what you need, order spares as well.CDI is outstanding, I use Paul significantly, but search the forums, there are other outstanding vendors who support us throughout the year.
