Guest guest
EDIT: NEVER MIND! Transmitter is fine. Got to thinking about the audio cable between the 2 units and found the audio cable from the DC-MP3 Showtime Director to the Transmitter Audio Output jack was the culprit. Ran a new cable and everything is fine! Whew, sure happy that's all it was!Well, don't know when it happened exactly, but testing the MBB Eclipse 4000 I've been using for my display over the last 2 years gave up it's transmitting on June 2, 2012 around 5PM when I noticed the outside speakers were only slightly buzzing/humming and no music.Went to check to see if someone may have turned off the transmitter, or unplugged the audio cable from the DC-MP3 Showtime Director that was supplying the music, nope, everything on and in its proper place.Kind of hoping I can find a local repair center that fixes FM transmitters in the Orlando area (near or around the Waterford Lakes or Fashion Square area} that can take a look at it and let me know if it's repairable or if it's going to become a door stop.I do have a request in for repair with MBB, but don't know if they may be able to repair the unit, the warranty is long gone {thought it was a year, but read on their site only 90 days}, well, so now, if I can't get it repaired cheap enough, there won't be any FM transmitter utilized this year in my display, just can't afford a replacement at this time. When I can replace it, it WILL be with an EDM, but gonna have to find someone locally that can solder the part{s} in.This was a major bummer to find the unit had gone belly up on me today. Max-Paul
Ok, there is a chance that the wall wart has gone bad. Reason I say this is cause you mention that that the receiver was humming and buzzing. Do you have another wall wart laying around that produces the same voltage and same or greater current rating? If so, try the other wall wart out. BTW does the display light up any at all? Is it dimmer than you remember it? Some wall cubes produce a DC voltage. 1 or more diodes might have failed. But more often the filter cap that removes the AC ripple has failed. I am thinking that this is what might be your case and this ripple is stronger than your audio input. And this is what is being transmitted. Might be cheaper and easier fix. But I am saying MIGHT. Fortuantely it was just the audio cable that was bad, no signal was getting through on the banded side of the cable, other side checked fine, ran a new audio cable and everything going fine. But I'll sure keep that in mind if my display ever goes dim on the transmitter.Fortunately I do have some other wal-warts that produce the same 12VDC the transmitter needs, tried a few of them, and one put a loud hum in the audio out, so thinking may have to put some ferrite coils over the electrical wires at each end to prevent that. But not sure if they would or wouldn't stop the hum from the wal-wart power adapter. Would that work? Just in case I ever had to use one of them.
