Technically speaking, there has to be something in your hole, probually at least a layer of dust..:?

But yes, I did miss the joke :( Guess that's why I didn't score a "rocket scientist" mark on my SAT's yrs ago

you would take the cubic feet of the hole and the lbs per cubic foot of an apple and times the apple's cubic poundage (if thats even a word) and times it by the cubic feet

by fall do you mean things falling over or do you mean his hole falling in and somehow filling it self up

and to light up the hole you would need water vapor like a fogger to make the light reflect to give it the effect of lighting up
