asetti
With a little direction and advice, my 13 yo daughter has programmed "Christmas must be something more" by taylor swift for my 64 channel setup!I really like the LoR SW. It is very easy to use once you play with it and all of the tips here from everyone have been helpful...I set up her show using my (currently) 1 LoR controller cycling the different channels through....she was thrilled!Tonight I buy the rest (*crosses fingers*). I've infected my daughters as well. My oldest 2 are 10 and 8. My 3rd one is 5.With my oldest two, I let them each choose a song last year. I put down the timing marks and then sat down with each of them to let them tell me what to do when. I, too, had 64 channels and that seemed manageable for them to wrap their heads around.Fast forward to this year, and they're still much involved. Daughter #2 has already built sequences (by herself) for a prop that we've built. Look at this thread, if you're interested. Note that the YouTube video in the first post is wrong. Not sure how it happened, frankly, but definitely wrong.http://forums.lightorama.com/forum82/32480.htmlThe first 2 have also chosen songs again and, at the moment, I'm planning on the same approach as last year - I'll put down timings. They'll work with me to sequence. Over 200 channels this year, so pretty daunting to them, I think. And as for Daughter #3, she asks me to play our planned 2012 show songs EVERY MORNING on the way to her daycare. Of course, I oblige. It helps me when I'm doing the timings for the song when I can sing them in my sleep. It has been a total blast involving the kids. They were super helpful at setup and you couldn't have found wider smiles in any surrounding county when we turned the lights on and their songs played.Have fun and keep your daughter infected, er, involved. You'll both enjoy it.
asetti
I am cheating...I am letting my 13 yo train her brother and sister (10 yo twins). They both each picked a song to do as well. :-) My son wants to do a Star Wars Chistmas (something about a wookie and brush and what to get him).....yes there is a Star Wars Chistmas album. I too was shocked (and a little appalled ).Found it:What Can You Get a Wookiee for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb?)sung by C3PO.
TJ Hvasta
Its amazing, just like foreign languages, it's easier for kids to catch on how to sequence than adults..
