rodman1369
Thursday, I performed my firstus mini Laser Light Show for a German Foreign Exchange Group who arrived in here in Texas from home Wednesday late. Around 50+ people of all ages (mostly young), the German students, their Texan counterparts, the families hosting the exchange students, teachers and friends...Just had some of my Lightshow elements such as rgb strips, a laptop, a stereo, and a hand-held animated graphics laser I've talked about here previously. I had remote control of all elements around the room and a smoke machine from Halloween misting up the place. (about half-way thru, the powers that be asked me to turn off the smoke - probably worried about the kids)...but a good time was had by all. Probably did about 45 minutes before I was told the German students (who traveled for 14 hours Yesterday)...were fading fast. But...when I faded out the music and the lights came on...you could hear/feel the disapointment! It was Great! These are some of the animations I played...but to music like The Beatles (in German), LMFAO, Fireflies - Owl City, etc... It took about a month for the laser to arrive at my door from China...but Well worth the wait!I projected onto a brick building the other night and the pictures were about 20 feet tall and clear as anything.
plasmadrive
Not to be a wet blanket about this but be very careful you don't get caught (or hurt anyone). Texas is very strict about lasers used in public, (Arizona even more so). That particular laser which is around 300mw requires a variance, as well do you personally to use it in public.I love seeing others play with small lasers like this but safety is a very big issue and there is more and more scrutiny around show lasers these days because of the issues with reckless people and available lasers. The few have screwed it up for the many.. as usual.. (nothing to do with you personally rodman)Have fun but be safe.. 300mw can permanently damage your eyes if you get it just right... Look into becoming legal. There is really no cost with the CDRH, just paperwork.. Unfortunately, lot of it.. Texas I think charges a few per year though.**If you are wondering why my nose is stuck in this, I have been a laserist for a very long time. I have served on the board of directors for the International Laser Display Association (ILDA) so I have some knowledge of the subject.

Guest Don Gillespie
I liked it and I would like it more if there was a way to keep time with the music, which it doesn't look like it in the video, but none the less it held my attention for some time
rodman1369
If you flip a switch on the back...it ignores the sd card and runs additional built-in animations which are triggered by audio input to the built-in microphone. There are still features I have not mastered on this...having too much fun with the obvious ones first... I know about the paperwork end for "variances"...have them printed out. Mainly use for private backyard up on my house display...but was asked to do a private indoor gig projected on the ceiling and did it as a favor...Hope to upgrade to an RGB laser soon and will look more into going totally income producing legal...For now...have a full-time job (but retire in about 4 years and this would be a cool income afterwards)
