I was wonderingif it is more cost efficient to buy SPT-2 wire, sockets, and bulbs th just buy strands and cut off to length or black out sockets.

If it is better to run my own with SPT-2 wire is there anything i should know?

thanks in advance for you help.

If you are using led light it is better to buy bulk rolls of either c9 or c7 and cut to lenght and add retrofit bulbs you can't cut led bought string lenghts with out a lot of work

Are you using LED strands with lights already on them when you bought them? Or retrofit LED lights that you screw into C7 or C9 sockets? Per Dennis' comment above, you can only cut strands to length if you're using the retrofit LED bulbs. At least without doing a bunch of extra work.

If you are using the retro fit bulbs then sure - that would work fine. You could add sockets in to make the strings up with whatever bulb spacing you chose as well.

Just watch out for the vendor and/or retro bulbs that you use as not all bulbs will work with LOR for dimming, twinkle, fading, etc.
Also there are different bulbs as to how many LEDs are in each bulb that affects the brightness and characteristics of the bulbs.

It appears that if I buy the socketed spools then I will have alot of extra work isthis correct? You would advise the Screw on and set your own spacing. Do you know where i can get them any cheaper than 100ft of spt-2 for $22.30 and spt-2 sockets for $15 for 100 pieces. that is at EZsales.com. Still haven't found the bulbs themself yet, but want LED.

Forgot to mention, they also have the bulk spools.

The vampire plugs also work well on the bulk spools.
