mackdave
How do most people do there mega tree. Eight channel or sixteen channel. If I make a 8 channel, I can do 2 colors with one controller. Any videos would be great to compare.

Denny
In the past, 12 channels per color, but this year will be going to a pixel controlled tree with 24 strings.
dgrant
This will be my first year out. My intention is to use 32 channels with all Multi led's, 16 spiraling one direction and opposite with the other 16. I have no clue what it'll look like, just hoping it'll be nice. EARLE W. TALLEY
dgrant, this is what it will look like. The center tree is wrapped with blue one way and green the other way. I am going to add red with the blue and white with the green for this year. That will be 16 blue, 16 red, 16 green and 16 white channels with 3 channels for the star that will be white for this year.Earle

I am going to spiral 16 strings/channels one direction and the other 16 the opposite direction.. Since the visulizer won't simulate this, either I have to put it up to test or wait and hope what's in my head is what reality is when it comes time. Your's look fantastic. daveo150
The higher the number of channels, the more smoothly it'll rotate. Last year was my first experiment with the mega tree. I used 16 channels, with 4 different colors. I didn't rotate slowly very smoothly (but I knew that ahead of time), but in quick rotations it wasn't bad.Overall, I wouldn't recommend that many colors without at least 32 channels.D

trafficman
LOL JIM..My mega tree has 4 colors White, Red, Green and Multi. 64 channels with 4 strings per color per channel at 150 bulbs per string. this gives it a total of 38,400 bulbs and the setup has a four string rotation per channel. Center of tree has a pvc conduit with 8 channel running up and then the star (one channel) and then the strobes on another channel. I have bought the spiral to add this year and it will be C6's. Sure hope it turns out with the cost of the LEDS to do this.Jeff
Greg Young
I use 64 channels, which I based on 6 inch spacing between the strings at its (3 ft elevated) base.Based on breaking it down musically however, it would have made more sense to go with multiple of 12 channels (which can be divided by both 3 and 4) for the various tempos).. ie 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, etc.My tree is very full. I am able to do many other effects besides chasing/rotating it.
