christmas tree

so i was wondering if anyone has used LOR on their christmas tree in their house? reason i am asking is when i got my first controller i convinced my parents to let me control the lights on their house, which i used to put up when i lived there but they were always static, but this past year my dad decided on thanksgiving he wasnt decorating the house so my controller just sat in a box. it got me wondering about creating some sequences for my christmas tree. the plan is divide the tree in 4 equal sections from top to bottom, then use 4 channel per section. has this been done before?

Ive seen it done but cant rememeber the "who" that did it. I think 16 channels might be a bit much for 1 tree, but in this hobby excessive is never a bad thing. Make it happen!

That's basically what my mega tree was last year, except my string sections were vertical....
Any of my sequences would work on your tree.....I shared them all, search for xmas 2011 seequences.

You could have some presents that light up aroun the bottom the pot that tree goes in could light up and the 4 channel 6 ft star would finish it off just a treat LMAO just go for it and post the outcome

anyone know of a website that sells strands of lights relatively cheap? i really don't want to wait till next Christmas to try my sequences once i get them done. the visualizer on the software just doesn't do it for me.

My wife sets up about 12 xmas trees in different sizes throughout the front living/dining rooms. Last year after I had taken down all of the outdoor stuff, I decided to hook up one controller to the trees inside. It took me about an hour, one channel per tree. She was impressed enough that she wants it done again next year.

Well... If you have an extra controller, I know a guy. Lol. Anyway it is a good idea, I had thought about doing it last year but was maxed out on my channels so maybe I will try it this year. If you do control your tree I would love to see a video of it!

I could be wrong (have been before), but I think you may have a difficult time finding these prices at anything other than after-Christmas sales, especially for higher-count strands.

I'd suggest watching the forums to see if any members put some up for sale.

You could set it up and sequence it like a Z-tree. It's a tree that's divided into 4 zones, each zone has 4-5 colors. So, if you used 4 colors per zone, that's 16 channels.

To see a Z-tree in action, go to www.lightsondisplay.com

This has me thinking of an episode of How I Met Your Mother titled Symphony of Illumination. Where Ted set up the living room to an AC/DC song for Robin. Might get some ideas there. And if not, it is a must see for for the nuts here anyway.
