TitanBry77
Found this, bought a spool to try. It's rated for direct burial and in the specs even lists outdoor low voltage wiring as a use. May be a nice alternative to Cat 5 etc and is outdoor rated.http://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/16ga4inspca51.html

I would also warn against trying to use speaker/ low voltage cable for high power(120v) applications. The insulation of the individual wires is not rated to handle the increased power. TitanBry77
So Cat5 would be better? I ordered this because it says it's ok for 12V which is what I am running for the RGB strip lights?
Dr. Jones
Cat 5 is good for signal. The above wire would be good for powering low voltage rgb lights and the like
TitanBry77
Yes, thats what I want to use it for, just for powering the RGB low voltage. Cat 5 will be used for the DMX signal where I use that in my Holiday display, this is just for some static RGB lights that are going on the ledge of a retaining wall.
