BrownOut
So I am waiting on pins and needles until 2pm here to find out the local prediction from Nibbles the groundhog. I even took the day off work so I could go and see her in person here in NC.Figured I would share other results already in anyway..."Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, the myth, the legend, emerged from Gobbler's Knob this morning and saw his shadow, thus decreeing six more weeks of winter."-Logan Attached files
jimswinder
Punxsutawney Phil Isn't Always Right Nearly five thousand revelers hoping for an early spring were disappointed today after Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. But those winter jackets may be able to go in the closet sooner than the forecasting groundhog has to say.It turns out the ultimate prognosticator- and his copycat counterparts- are wrong more often than they are right. BrownOut
Now Jim. This is the best holiday of them all. You don't have to buy gifts for other people. You don't have to travel and see family. It can be fun if you believe in your groundhog.I am comparing the results posted on the Internet now to the Old Farmers Almanac to see if you are correct. TJ Hvasta
"This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather....]/i] This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship... a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You're hypocrites, all of you! What's the matter with you, Princess? You want a prediction about the weather, you're asking.. the.. wrong.. Phil... I'll give you a winter prediction: It's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you for the rest of your life..."
Guest guest
As "MILD" as the winter has been this year, I doubt ANY of those groundhogs that see their shadow are going to be right about 6 more weeks of winter. Hit 83 degrees here on Wednesday and it's 79 degrees right now a wee bit after noon (12:07) and more of practically the same for the next couple weeks.Maybe the folks up North may get something different, but in my part of the wood, I just don't see ol' Phil the groundhogs prediction becoming anywhere near factual. Not unless something drastically changes within the next few weeks, and I have a lot of doubt about that. llewis
I feel like we haven't yet had a winter yet down here in GA... so if we have six "more" weeks of winter, I'm guessing that means we'll finally get winter in the first place?
