beeiilll
Not to throw water on the fire, but be wary of the cheap ty wrap guns out there. Some of the ones you find that are very "inexpensive" can be more trouble than help. A poor wrap gun will frustrate you and cause you more work than a good one as well as wasted ty wraps, time, patience, and skin on your fingers.I have been using ty wraps and guns for over 25 years now and have seen a lot of them that are less than helpful.I personally own 4 Panduit guns that I would not trade for anything but they are also very expensive ones that I have had for many years.Look for a fairly good quality metal case gun that has replaceble cuttin blades for a minimun. It also must have several tension settings so as to be able to tighten and cut the ty wraps correctly.I have seen many Panduit and other guns on eBay for good prices that would be good ones for this hobby. You get what you pay for and a good ty wrap gun will serve you well as well as saving you time and frustration.Remember to change the cutting blade and service the gun every once in awhile as well to keep it in top condition. Surfing4Dough
Bought 2 of these exact guns this past year off ebay (bought two since they were cheap and assumed that one would fail since they were cheap). I was quite pleased with it and no failures.
Guest guest
Bill, I agree. However, these are the very same tie wrap guns I used for almost 40 years in the aerospace industry and military contract jobs I worked at.They hold up very well. I don't recall if the blades are replaceable in this model and the site doesn't indicate that, but they may be.They also have a thumb-wheel for 8 tension positions. I'm almost sure that these are not plastic, but metal. The plastic variety as far as I am concerned are definitely JUNK! I bought and wore out several of those, actually they ended up breaking and falling completely apart, rendering them not only unrepairable, but completely useless.I think these will be a good investment. For anyone not sure of their durability or quality, I'd contact MPJA and ask for more information before purchasing.Their e-mail is mpja@mpja.com and use their item number: 19056 TL {for this tool} in the subject line of the e-mail.I've e-mailed them questions about items in the past, always very quick with most of their replies, mnay times within a few minutes and not more than 24 hours, also they have fast shipping and great service.I reccomend them and use them for a lot of items {electronics, attenuators, tools, wal-warts, and specialty items} that I may be looking for.Haven't had any issues with anything I've ever bought from them.Planning to purchase this particular tie-wrap tool myself, especially since I have used them in some very demanding and heavy workloads. Surfing4Dough
The are metal. And for $5 who cares if it is disposable (though like I said before mine held up fine for one busy season).

beeiilll
Well I offer an apology on these then. I know I have seen posts from people gettin "cheap" guns and having all sorts of problems with them and getting frustrated. There was a post over on the PC forums last year about a gun that looked identical to this one so that is why I posted my concern about these, but obviously it must have been a different ty wrap gun.Definitely good to know that there is a "quality" one out there for such a good price. As I said I have Panduit guns and they are expensive but they have always worked great for me.I stand corrected on these.Heck, maybe I better pick up a couple of these at this price to have around for "just in case" ! LOLEven if the blades are not replaceble, these are a steal and a "throw away" item if they start to malfunction.
Guest guest
No apology was needed Bill. You were just tossing out your concerns about an item that you thought may cause folks issues. It's good to post concerns like that.If I had not used these myself in actual work environments, I'd have had the same concerns, how good are they, do they hold up, the basic questions.I just sent them an e-mail this morning asking if the blade(s) are replaceable, since I don't remember if they are. Hoping to get an answer back soon.Once I know, I'll let everyone know here.I had bought one of those really cheapo ($2.00) yellow and blue plastic ones to use once, won't ever do that again, darn thing lasted for about 20-25 ties before it snapped and became useless, so back to pulling with a pair of pliers and cutting with diagonal cutters for the next 1,000+ ties I used.So I'm planning on getting a set of these myself.
