Wayne K
This evening I whent out and measured all of my windows and walls and so on and was logging them on to my spread sheet. As I was comparing the bulb counts of my incans I took down and the bulb count of the led's and the length that I measured tonight, things did not add up right. 1-35 & 1-50 incan strings only took 1 50 led, So I was 35 lights less on this window. So I whent up to the attic and brought down some new boxes of incans and got to looking at the length of them and found that my incans were 3" spacing and the led's that I am going to order are 4" spacing. So overall in my display the house will have a lot less lights than with the incans. Windows look to be 20 - 30 bulbs each shorter, My corners 30 short and so on.My questions are:# 1 is the 4" spacing on led strings common or is it just the brand I decided to go with?# 2 If # 1 above is common then for those of you who have made the switch from incans to led is this a noticeable problem from a viewing point?# 3 Possibly add a second string to each one and make a 2" spacing to get the bulb count back up.# 4 Is the led lights enough brighter and sharper that it will not be noticed?I never thought I would have as many questions as I have had to do a led conversion for next year.Once again thanks for any infoWayne
-klb-
All the ones I have are 4 inch spacing. The way I use them, they more than make up for it in brightness, but I'm not outlining windows and such. But I do have places that had 300 incandescent one year, and only 210 LED the following year, and looked just fine.
Wayne K
Rather then start another thread I will add to this one. I was using 100 icans per segment on a 7 segment arch with 3/4" pvc. Now with the led's being longer which is a better way to go?# 1 stay with 100 led's and wrap the extra 10 foot of lights in?# 2 drop back to 70 lights and wrap them as the incans were? Thanks againWayne
CKSedg
I have 30,000+ LEDs, many different brands. ALL of them have 4" spacing.
Wayne K
Bump, cancelled my original order because of the lenght issue on my mega tree and got that figured out and now trying to figure this one out and waiting to place new led orderWayne K wrote:I was using 100 icans per segment on a 7 segment arch with 3/4" pvc. I have done a bunch of seaching and not finding much.Don't have problem buying either one. Just don't know if 100 is enough or to many and don't know if 70 is enough or not enough.ThanksWayne
imawlkr2
All my LEDs are 4" spacing. I would go with the 70ct LED as they are close to the same length as a 100ct incan set. The LED will be brighter than the incans were too.

I ended up with about 6-7 inches on each end of the arch uncovered. They were plenty bright. It should not be an issue at all. Here is an arch test video I took after building the first one. The lights I used are 5mm concave leds in candlelight/antique white color.
