Brett H.
This year we chose River of Hope to get all our donations. We collected just under $250 which was down from last year by about half. Guess economy took its toll in our area. We turned all money into gifts and ended up with 87 gifts. River of Hope is a charity that collects toys for children and delivers them to the area hospitals for all the children spending time in hospitals over christmas. There are locations every where incase someone needs a good charity for next year.
Dennis Cherry
Our total for 2011 is $871.00 and 135 pounds of food.We found out if you do not go outside and greet and talk to people they do not donate. This year we did for several nights and we beat last years record.Really did not think it would be as much fun, but we really enjoyed the time talking to so many people. DaveK
It is true that the gauge of a successful Christmas light display isn’t measured in donations, but when people are moved to assist charitable causes because their hearts are fill with the joy of the holidays then the displays have served a dual purpose. This was my 6th year collecting for The Old Town Mission, a local organization assisting homeless and unemployed with food and temporary lodging. This year we collected $4275 and 150 pounds of food.In years past the contribution denominations were mostly $10 and $20. The past two years it is mostly $1 and $5 due to hard economic times. Understandable. It is always interesting to note that those families that appear to have the least are the most likely to make a donation the help the less fortunate. It is their children that are first to drop a quarter or dollar into the contribution slot and say ‘thank you’ for the wonderful show.
Terry Hurrle
This was our first year collecting for Joe Malays Ho Ho Express. It is a local charity solely ran by Joe which raises funds to take under privileged children shopping so they may have a Christmas. This year he took 8 school bus loads of children shopping at the local Walmart. That was over 200 kids. We are proud to say we collected $800.00 and were able to help give a Christmas to 16 more children. We have plans for next year to make it grow. All of the people involved are volunteers.Terry

If you've even done food delivery you can attest to the same thing, poor folk tip well, rich folk hang onto their change...
shakeonit
We put out a box last year and collected $54. So this year we set a goal to put a zero behind that number and do a couple of reminders between songs. We hit our goal, collecting over $600. I was very blessed by people's generosity. Our charity is Concerns Of Police Survivors, which gives to the families of fallen officers.I had a thought to add a zero to our new total for next years goal, but then I thought that was unattainable. After seeing some of your posts, maybe it's not so far fetched... We'll see!
