LEDs per meter strips

Can someone provide some links to the types of controllers you are using to make these RGB strips compatible with LOR?

I have a bunch of these strips in white and blue and 1 5m roll of the RGB. If I can find a good control mechanism I'll buy a lot more of the RGB strips. Are you just connecting them straight to the LOR DC board for 99 bucks or is there an easier way to control these strips and create a wide variety of colors?

Also, what do you guy think look better?

These 5050's are 30/m

And these 3528's are 60/m

Anyone tried both and have an opinion?

You can also find these pretty cheap on Amazon.com. I've been picking up single color white or blue at about 10 dollars per 5m roll.

I just received (2 days ago) one of these (150 led 5 meter strips). I hooked them up with a power supply and an enttec pro using a 3 channel controller from holiday coro. They are very bright and dim fairly well (all three colors). matched against a string of 5050 modules also from Holliday coro. Same brightness and dimming. I just ordered a 300 led strip (also 5050's) to compare against (I paid $22.49 (free shipping) for the 5 meter 150 led stip and $28.50 for the 5 meter 300 led stip. I also ordered an assorment of end to end connectors, 90 % connectors and 4 way connectors to see how they will work.

Hey Jerrymac,

Mind me asking where you are obtaining your strips and connectors from? That seems like a reasonable price for them.

Please keep me in mind after you receive the 300 Led strip as I am really curious as to how it looks next to the 150 Led strip as well.
I want to know about the connectors as well since these strips are so small it is tough to cut and make the connections on the small pads on them.
I was thinking of just ordering some and trying them out but you are doing exactly that so I may hold off for a bit and see what you think about them.

I am leaning towards the 150 Led strip only because others have said that it is intensely bright compared to the 150 string and I don't want to overpower my Led strings that I am using now but I do want to use these strips for around windows and doors to clean up the look and make things much straighter looking as well as easier to put up and maintain.

Thanks
Bill

I ordered them off ebay seller is "teayou" here is a link to his store (china).

Once the 300 led strips arrive i'll test aginst the 150 led and against my CCR's. After I receive and test the solderless connectors I'll post the results.

Thanks

That is the eBayer that I have referenced in my links above that I was looking at buying from as well.

I may go ahead and order a string or two myself then and the cheap controller just so I can test and play with the strings.
At least that way I will know more about these things and what others are talking about when discussing them. :P

3528s do not have nearly the brightness of a 5050, so twice as many 3528s is probably coming close to the brightnes of half as many 5050s.

Stick to 5050s for display use unless you really want the much lower brightness.

The 5050's are much brighter. The measured MCD is something like 2-3x brighter - and you can really notice the difference.

I have used white 3528 for under cabinet lighting in the kitchen to replace old flourescent fixtures. The color mixing is also an issue for RGB.

I have been looking at this too... Here is a list I got from a seller, don't know about shipping though.

The interesting thing in this link is they have the tubing with silicone inside? Has anyone ever used something like that?
