I acquired a few blowmolds this year and wondering about storage. I have plenty of room in my attic for them, but it gets warm up there in the summer, wonder if the heat would be an issue. I've had some items discolor because of the heat.

I am by no means an expert, maybe we can get Carrie to stop by with her knowledge of blow molds. I would be worried that if it is discoloring. Then it would also be getting fragile and will become easy to crack. And that would be a shame due to the fact that many great blow mold companies are no longer in business so these blow molds will be the last of them.

The things that I had discolor was some plastic candy canes and my two white trees. I haven't had the blowmolds up there yet, want to try to find out if it's ok.

I have over 400 blow molds in my garage attic and have never had a problem with the plastic becoming brittle or yellowing.

Most often brittle and yellow plastic is the result of UV radiation from sunlight, or ozone from pollution. Keeping it out of the light, and contained in boxes or wrapped in paper should protect it.

The higher temps may accelerate the yellowing process to some extent but I would be more concerned with the plastic actually aging more rapidly from the temps.
I keep all my molds in my basment and a spare bedroom so I can't say for sure but I know that the higher temps will cause plastic to get brittle faster.
I like pikadroo's idea but I'm just not sure what to make for them for dinner!
Legos maybe?
