plasmadrive
Is anyone interested in these? I am looking at ordering a pretty large quantity and I would entertain additions to my order.I am guessing they are going to be about $.50 per pixel landed here in California... but I am not completely sure.Minimum of 500 pixels per order. They come in rolls of 50. You will need an RGB driver of some type. They are not individually controlled pixels on a string. All of any color/s on the string would light. They have a chipped version where you can select pixels and they are about double that price. Not sure about the driver for those yet. Still looking into it.Let me know!Craig Attached files RGB LED pixel.pdf
Dave H1
Hi Craig,Yes, would like to know more about these. How long to arrive ??Is the distance betwee pixels +/- 4" ??What type of payment arrangements are you proposingWould need to know total cost with shipping from west coast, I'm in central FloridaMerry ChristmasDave
Ken Benedict
Be careful what you order; the picture shows 4 wires coming out, which usually indicates a 6803 or smarter light string with individually controlled pixels.

plasmadrive
These are NOT individually controlled pixels. I think I said that in the beginning. There is a version that is individually controlled, but from what I can tell they only have 5 bits of brightness control and that is not that great. They cost about double. I am ordering samples in Jan so I can play with both them just to see how they work. I will get back to everyone that emails me with a report.I am offering up the "pile on" for a one time buy that I am planning if they turn out to be usable for my particular application. I am not offering any warranty, hand holding or technical help. I might give some help if I can, but not implied from the get go. If you are not comfortable with that don't jump in. Money will all have to be sent in at the time of my order. If we can break shipping up so that the lights go directly to those that order without impacting the cost for my order we will. That will up to the manufacturer. So there is no confusion.. I am ordering these for myself if they work out like I am expecting! If I don't like the samples I won't be ordering anything past that point and I will tell you all. This is not a business venture for me. I am offering the "pile on" because we all like to play in the same sand box. Nothing more... If you are not comfortable with that don't jump in.Happy New Year
plasmadrive
In my post above my goal is to be very specific so no one gets confused. Nothing more. Please don't read anything into that is not there.Like I said, I am ordering samples today. I will let everyone know what I find out and if I even like these.I will share results and hopefully we can have some fun with these.Craig

plasmadrive
Hi Surfing,I try to be very up front with everything. That way no one gets disappointed when it all goes down.I hope these work as expected. They could be fun for all of us. I am thinking it could really cut down on wiring and string count. We shall see how the samples go.
scubado
The great advantage I see with these is that you can cover a bush or element with one string verses making 4 color super strings, that can weight down a bush or tree. just to help clarify the use of these. plasmadrive
I am thinking nice colorful arches as well.I have these 30' redwoods that these might work great on.

A common + and separate ground - for each color.
scubado
plasmadrive wrote:I am thinking nice colorful arches as well.I have these 30' redwoods that these might work great on.This would depend on how many you can chain together. Running supply line to each string could be an issue on large items, or maybe a backbone power line that they can connect too.One advantage to these too, you can cut to any number. If your project came to 48 bulbs, just cut the last two off and add them to another string.
plasmadrive
I am hoping they are constant current drivers so we can drive them a bit and not worry so much about Vdrop. That is another reason for the samples.
scubado
Do you need drivers if they are connected to a DC board?
