Hi

Wow I am so new to all of this......I am interested in getting a controller starter kit.

I have heard from a member hear you can use almost any type of light with the units.

what are C-9,C-7 and C-6, respectively.........

How does the controller connect to the lights, is it a simple case of those rat tails are the power source to the lights or what, been trying to find this sort of info on the forum must be looking in the wrong places...

cheers

Not quite a newbie, been doing this for about 2 years, but I see the same style light (LED) listed as two different sizes, I see one where it calls them M5, but on CDI Paul says they are M6. Is there some type of difference between an M5 and an M6 type light, as in the length or size(diameter) of the bulb(LED) covering. As I don't usually see M6 sizes listed at other sites, just M5 types.

So I was just curious as to what are or is the difference between them, if there is one.

I am planning on buying the 100 ct. Pure White and the Orange M6's from CDI to replace the incandescents currently in my HolidayCoro Sidewalk Baby Arches. And just want to make sure the M6 will be a suitable replacement for the clear and orange incandescents I have in them currently.

C6 is a smaller version of a C7 bulb, if you have nightlights, you should know what a C7 bulb is, as 99% of Nightlights that use incandescent bulbs use a C7, usually called a Night Light Bulb. The C9 is just a larger version of the C7, the difference being the bulb is a little larger than a C7 and the base is also larger and won't fit a standard night light socket.

That's about the best way I can explain it, look at the above url and then try and compare the sizes of each, that will definitely give you a better perspective of the sizes and types of light bulbs, whether incandescent or LED/LED-Retrofit types.

M6 is a little longer (0.5-1" longer) and a tad wider than M5s.

Thanks Surfing! Just what I needed to know. I think the LED M6's will actually be a better and "snugger" fit for what I want them for. My "glass", clear incandescents tend to "slide" out of the coro holes from time to time, and I have to push them back into place. So I think the CDI M6's will fit my needs perfectly!

Thanks again for the link and the information! :)

Not rat tails, but they are called pig tails.
And I see others have answered your Q about the different bulb sizes.
I suggest you spend some time reading. All newbies need to spend a lot time reading. Google things like LED Christmas lighting and find and bookmark sites that have a good collection of lights. And read through these sites and learn the difference of lights. Thats what I did the first year back in 09.
BTW welcome to the light side (versus the dark side). You will find yourself spending a lot of time with this hobby if you are going to do it right. And a lot of money.
