bob_moody Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Well it finally happened. I had the suspended G-Scale running under the porch and was in the process of adding some mini-lights along the track so the viewers could better see the train.I guest drove up and I walked out to greet them (everyone know where this story is going? )As we were chatting, I hear something fall. I walk back up to the porch and there on the track was two passenger cars, the tender completly derailed and no locomotive. (sigh) ...I look around and find the loco on the ground (about an 8' drop), the smoke stack seperated but it was two piece anyway. At first glance I thought wow! not much damage. Upon further investigation I found the one of the drive axels snaped. The White Christmas Express is in the round house for the season. Not even sure it can be repaired. Actually, I think there may have been problems with the train out of the box. The drive axels dont appear to be parallel which would explain its constant desire to climb off the track in the turns.Anyway... train is dead, pride is bruised and pocket book ... well.. this is a Christmas site so I will leave that out.Bob
toddmoon Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Ouch! Sorry to hear that. At least it was not some kid knocking it off and ruining it.
paulanator Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Bob,as a train nut myself, my condolences.... That really stinks.
jimswinder Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Hey Bob...Sorry to hear about your de-railement...I know for me, it just isn't Christmas without a train going around the Christmas tree...
Guest Don Gillespie Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Hey that sucks, hopefully it can be repaired,Merry Christmas
MtDew4me Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Bob: I'm really sorry to hear the bad news. I spent the better part of this past year (on and off) building a train for my display - a true labor of love. I can't imagine how I'd feel if something like that happened to it. Good luck and I really hope it can be repaired.Merry Christmas,Brandon
