yukon
Well it's my 2nd year with LOR and it is True! I was pleasantly surprised to find a few Chrsitmas cards and a Box of cookies on my front door step. We also made the local paper and local news.It is such a great feeling to see families get out of their cars, video the display and the kids dance to the music. The local paper had sent me an e-mail about our display as they do a Tour-Delites every year. Here is a an excerpt from the paper."In MacAulay, the second annual Zimnowski Christmas Light show at 15419 Hugh McAuley Road is another crowning achievement. Their emotionally charged light and music show sent chills up the spine of a Herald Weekly judge recently. Their colorful LED display is accented by strobe lights, 12-foot Bellagio poles, a spiral mega tree, and a five-foot North Star that shoots a 30-foot beam of light."Thanks to the LOR Community for helping me to get my Christmas dispaly to what it is today! James George
Living way out in the county the best we get is slow-down drive-by viewers, a few have pulled into the driveway and watched a bit. Yesterday I was out in the yard when a lady stopped her car out on the road, rolled down her window and yelled out that they just loved our lights. That was a first! CKSedg
Tonight I arrived home from work a little late. There was a large van/small bus sitting in the middle of the road. It was full of old folks from a home a few miles away. I went over and asked the driver if they were enjoying the show. He said they all loved it and asked if I would like to come on the van/bus and talk to them.Of course I did. They were loving the show and told me how much joy it brought to them and they couldn't believe I would spend all the money and time to do something that I got nothing from. I told them I got love and joy from people like them who enjoy the show. That is payment enough. They were all so sweet, and it was wonderful to be able to brighten up the day of some elderly people who don't have a lot of happiness sometimes.Again---it made it all worthwhile. The bus driver was surprised to find out it was our home, since he remembered us and my mom--this was the facility at which my mother passed away at one month ago. We remembered some of the residents on the bus. He said they came last night too. He said that the residents get so excited when they get here. It touched us in a special way. Got a photo with my webcam. Attached files

Then they labored 15 hours programming their lights to music. Then they created a website – www.huntersvillechristmaslights.com – with video of their display which contains sound bites from Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold from the movie “Christmas Vacation.”Just teasing!! :} Thats awesome that you are on the forums, I need to get over there and check your display out. yukon
Thats funny....We actually took a ride to find yours after the article came out...unfortunaltley your neighbor pulled into his driveway and backed in and left his headlights on while we sat there... ..so of what we could see..it was really nice..It was great to see others local to us doing this! There was some cool houses in your neighborhood as well. I liked the one with the Santa Face Blow mold on the Garage Wall.Funny thing on the article, we got an e-mail from Anne F..I think she was the one who wrote it? Anyway she e-mailed me on Tuesday of the week the article came out and asked if we had a picture, she said they could'nt get a good shot as the lights kept blinkinig....LOL so I go out late one night after setting my LOR to allow the lights to just stay on. I send her the Picture on Wednesday and she replies it might be to late as the article is already in! Oh well...but yes it was nice to be recognized. We actually started a light contest in our neighborhood in Macaulay. Hope you get a chance to drive thru, as there are some really nicely decorated homes. Glad you found LOR as well, this site has been great as far as getting all the info that you need to put a nice show together. I joined here 3 years ago but did my 1'st LOR last year. Everyone here seems very eager to help and I know it's saved me a ton of money and time helping with any questions I have had.Hope we can hook up some time...Yukon
