lleibeck
You remember those late nights turning into early mornings setting up the display, asking yourself if it was worth it?Then you see the excitement in the kids eyes and you feel better.Well tonight I looked out the window and saw a bus like the limo services have. Thought it was just a group of partiers checking out lights before celebration starts.Turned out to be the bus from the local senior center for retired and ex military. I took some candy canes out for the folks and to thank them for their service.I got to meet some WW II vets that were so appreciative of the display you would have thought I was the hero. I told them this was my way of thanking them and welcoming back any time.I was able to answer my original question, YES it's worth it for no other reason than for the vets. paulanator
I know exactly what you mean.Tonight, we were able to give the Soup Kitchen $500 cash and 4 bins of food, almost 200 lbs of food collected so far.The tears on the directors face and the hugs said it all.Not to mention on the weekends standing out and talking with kids and folks and giving out candy canes. Those faces, make it all worth it too!
Ed Slonka Jr
Agree 100%! That's why I dedicate two songs in my show to all veterans.Without them we would not be enjoying this great hobby.
