Allen and April Cook
My wife and I are new to this, and this site as been a great big help. We are putting alot of thought into our decorations, and came up with something I have not seen on here yet, but my have been used in the past.We were looking for something to make mini arches when I spotted the perfect thing hula hoops, Toys R Us had them buy one get one free so we got a few.The first one we made we kept the hoop a complete circle, divided it into half and marked it with a sharpie, then drilled two sets of small holes going from the outside edge to the center of the hoop, for both halfs. We then took safety wire(bought at Lowes, used for hanging pictures, etc) feed it thru the holes and wrapping it around the hoop and across the center of the hoop to the other side, splitting the hoop in half with the wire so that later when we cut the hoop in half it still had its shape. We then divided the hoop into sections to wrap our lights we divided each half into 6 sections and used 100 count light sets(we chose the number of sections because of channel use). While making the first ones we came up with another idea, leave them a complete hoop and hang them from a tree. we just added another piece of safety wire that basically quarted the hoop, the lights are heavy, and hung them from an area where the wire was helping support the weight. They came out awsome and you can make several sequences with the circles.WE are hooked, already started planning for next year.
