Wayne K
I am using the CLS strobes and seam to have had a lot of failure with these. I have drilled the bottom of them and they are all facing up. I changed out 4 about a week ago and 5 last night and 2 today out of about 105 of these. Does anyone else have trouble with these? Does anyone know what goes wrong with them and if they are repairable? I even had a doa out of the box. I also know some of these are older ones to.ThanksWayne

JBullard
Wayne,CLS strobes have always had this problem for me, drilled or undrilled.I switched to the CDI strobes in 2009 and trashed the remaining CLS strobes because in my opinion they were expensive junk. Was loosing 30 - 40% of them every season. No failures with the CDI strobes since 2009. dslowik
I have had a 10% failure per year with my CLS strobes. I started with about 30 strobes 6 years ago and am at 16 right now.

Wayne K
Thanks for the repliesNo failures with the CDI strobes since 2009Are the CDI strobes as bright? It sounds like they are a little better strobe. I may have to get in on a pre order for some of these on this next order.Wayne
JBullard
Wayne,Here are some instructions that zman put together for repairing the CLS strobes. However, I consider them expensive junk and not worth the effort and expense of repairing them.Besides, the CDI presale starts Monday 12/12 and his strobes are only $3.75 each. BBY2KS2K
Wayne, out of the 6 CLS strobes I have (all new last year) 2 of them failed this year. Also the sockets that CLS sells are junk too. The sockets are brittle and fall apart really easy. I may retire mine too and go for the CDI version.

JeffF
I haven't had luck with the CLS strobes either. I buy all my strobes from CDI or Action Lighting. People used to complain about AL strobes being slower firiring strobes but last year they seemed to fix that(not sure about this year's strobes from them since I didn't buy any).CDI pre-sale makes them the no-brainer at $3.75 a strobe. pstigerfan
I just ordered 5 cases of strobes from CDI because the $3.75 each price is a no-brainer that you can't beat. In all, I just put an order in for about $500.00 worth of merchandise including strobes, rope light, and other stuff.
Dan C
Personally I have not had any failure due to moisture from CLS strobes. The only problem I'm having with them is the plastic housing is coming loose from the threaded C9 socket. some are hanging on by the two wires. so I just push it back up into the housing. They need to be glued in better.I did have one come off in a wind storm and the wires broke. And FYI, I did NOT Drill them. They are all hanging Down and I do live in a cold wet climate. CKSedg
This may be a dumb question, but are "xenon" strobes and "incandescent" strobes the same thing?
