bob
If you have an operating system earlier than Windows XP, S3 is not supported on them.Assuming you have Windows XP or later, first check if your license is only good up to version 2.9, or if it also covers 3.0 or 3.1. You can do this by going to the license retrieval page, entering the email address that you used to purchase your license, and clicking "Retrieve". An email then should be sent to you which will tell you your "max version".If it says 3.1 or higher, you're good to go with the latest code. If it says 3.0, you have a choice: Use 3.0.4 (for free, since your license covers it) or purchase a license renewal (more on that momentarily) so that you can use 3.1. If it says 2.9 (or 2.whatever), then you would have to purchase a license renewal. If you want to purchase a license renewal, you might have a few choices. Any one of the following would count as purchasing a license renewal:You could actually purchase a license renewal. You could instead purchase a SuperStar license, which also counts as a license renewal.Unless you have the Advanced license level, you could instead purchase a license level upgrade, which also counts as a license renewal.Whichever of those three you decide to do, make sure you use the same email address that you used to initially purchase your license. If you no longer have access to that email address or whatever, contact LOR customer support on our help desk before making the purchase; they'll change your license to use your new email address, after which you can make the purchase. After you're sure that your license covers whatever version you want to use, you can download the installer from the software download page. The installer for the latest version (currently 3.1.4) can be found near the top of the page. If you want to use an earlier version (for example 3.0.4 if your license only covers up to 3.0 and you don't want to purchase a renewal), you can find the older installers near the bottom of the page, in the "Past Versions of Software" section.Once you have downloaded the installer for the version that you want to use, stop all of your running programs, especially LOR programs, including not just things like the Sequence Editor, but also the LOR Control Panel (which is the light bulb icon in your computer's system tray). You can stop the LOR Control Panel by right-clicking on it and then selecting "Unload Light-O-Rama" from the popup menu that will open. Then run the installer.
