pabryang
I believe so... when I consulted the trouble shooting guide... it says I can manually select a comm port on my computer... I did all those steps but according to trouble shoot usually comm 1 2 or 3 is the usual comm port and you will no this because under "my computer' it should read USB Comm"n"??? but I dont see this... the controllers work fine with my OLLLLLDDDDD computer but all my new sequences are on this laptop. It should work but everything is fine but it is not communicating with my new laptop. I am using the r485b adapter... usb to cat5
cmoore60
If you are using one of the USB adapters and have not loaded the drivers then there is NO comm port associated with the device to select.
pabryang
I went through my disks...and reloaded my origianl LOR disc and verified I have installed drivers etc... I have tried to manually change comm ports to see if any of them would identify controllers... On the old computer it was comm 1... Something is a miss.... The light is constantly blinking like it is awaiting the computer to hook up to it... but it is just not making the connection.

pabryang
I tried it both ways... manually and auto...The info book says do whatever you can to get the controller to stop blinking... VERY HELPFUL!!!
cmoore60
lets try this. Forget about the controllers for a minute. What windows are you using?Unplug the usb cable. Open Device manager. Do you know how to do that? Open up the ports. While watching the ports, plug in the USB cable. Does a comm port show up?Chuck

cmoore60
Does any port show up when you plug in the usb cable for the adapter, with the adapter on the end of it while watching the ports?
pabryang
USB Comm 30 everytime I plug it in watching device manager that is the Comm that pops up... When I go to the utility manager.... I switched the comm manually to 30... on the sequence editor under network preferances it only goes to com
cmoore60
ok the HWU will not recognize any port about about 16.In the device manager double click the entry for your port 30 and you should be able to set the port to a lower one....like below 10 to be sure.possibly look under port settings and then advanced. cmoore60
Reboot the computer with the adapter plugged in. Windows may be having a conflict and a reboot should clear that up.
