Christmas_time_karl_UK
Hey guys,I am getting really fed up with LOR this year...I am getting several incidences each night where the music carries on playing but the board dont recieve a signal (LED flashes), I find the status window with a "not responding" thingy like windows always does, however if I disconnect the USB to Serial adaptor the "not responding" message goes and the status throws up loads of jibberish (I have a log somewhere to show if needed)and then if I end the shows immediatly, re plug in the usb to serial adaptor and enable shows/schedule it works again until the next random crash.Any thoughts please?Karl
WilliamS
I would trace hardware, as in the USB port may be bad, or the cable going to the LOR unit. Try changing the USB port your using.
rwertz
If you don't already have it, you might want to purchase the USB cable with the Ferrite Filter LOR now offers. This was fixing a lot of lock up issues a couple years ago.Edit: Also make sure the PC is not trying to go into power saver mode. Most folks disable all that in the show PC. cmoore60
I will add that make sure that your signal (lor network) are seperated from your AC lines, both feed to controllers and outputs from the controllers. The ferrite bead usb cable is a good start. Most of these issue are related to garbled signals. Bad cat 5 cables can also cause the issues that you mentioned.I have read of MANY incidence of people claimin their cables are good, then change one and everything is working as it should.Just re read your first post. As I recall a few years ago people had this problem erratic behavior and one test was to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. This is when the ferrite bead cable came out.Chuck
tpooler
Also make sure you take the PC running the show off any network or wireless network by disabling the network card/connections. Disable any antivirus program. All of these things add interupts which cause LOR to behave inconsistantly such as not communicating with ELL's. Christmas_time_karl_UK
It ran perfectly tonight, just made sure the power settings on the pc were to high performance and made sure the USB power saving feature didnt come on. --- Thanks to LOR help desk team :-)
