How do you reset an old-model CTB08D?

I have a CTB08D (firmware 1.0) that is having fading problems with incandescent strings. I created a fade test that fades from 100%-0% over 5 seconds.

The CTB08D fades in sync with other boxes till around 10%, and then "pops" back to about 50% for 1/10 of a second before finally turning off.

When this happens with my CTB16PC boxes, I remove the J0 jumper to reset the box. That always works. But what do I do to the 8 channel box to do a reset?

Try power off, set address to 00, power on. Wait a few moments then power off again. Set address to normal and power on. Check with Hardware Utility.
